Buyer beware.. Action Elite Case ACL24

Well ....

I have an Action case from Pooldawg (the Nexus or ELN 35 model) and I like it real well, and it was only $84. I have no problem with the tubes other than the butt should go in pin up to keep from punching a hole in the spring loaded butt base.

I also had a 4 x 8 Porper that I had problems with the tubes, and other issues, like the cheap zippers on them. I once worked for a software manufacturing company (not Pc's) and bought and dealt with all kinds of zippers on our goods we produced, and I know a good one from a cheap one.
The foam under the lid also got torn and came out halfway. Needless to say, I was not impressed with them.

Finally got through.. Julia there said she hates those cases as well, they never seem to fit (hmm, so you KNOW your product sucks yet still sell it to unsuspecting customers?) Anyway, that aside, I asked how to send it back to them.. she referred me to the address on the website.. I followed with 'so then you'll just credit my Visa once you receive it?' and CLICK! line disconnected.. I've tried back 10 times, and get voicemail every time.
Update: last two calls have just rang until finally ending in a terminal busy signal.. I guess they are having phone problems. I sent another email, no response, not even to the initial one I sent. I'm not holding out high hopes for this refund! lol!

You know, I'm all for people running businesses out of their house.. I'll support these companies any chance I get because they typically go out of their way to help the customer. Fortunately my new case from Instroke should be here today, so I'm not going to be too impatient.. I hold out hope that I'll get my money back.

Bastian...Just FWIW...you might try contacting the company BEFORE you start bashing them here on the internet. Most companies are quite willing to work with problems, provided they get the chance. You came on here and badmouthed the company (even though they don't MAKE the Action products), before they had any opportunity to respond to you. I don't think their response is right (apparently hung up on you), but I have to say, in the same situation I might have done the same. jmo

Scott;

Yeah, but Scott. I had similar problems with Budget also, including Julie lying to me. Its good to know when a business doesn't take care of customers. Word of mouth is the price you pay for doing business of any kind. You would have done the same.. ie hang up on an unhappy customer, I don't think so, I know you better.

Oh I completely agree.. I keep reserving judgement, and would love to post that it all works out well.. My only bash so far has been regarding the fact that they knew these cases were problematic.. I rely on the company to let me know if the item I'm buying is known not to work as intended. If they didn't know, I'd understand, but in this case they did know and just didn't let me know. The fact that this cue case doesn't work for any standard size production cue is something I would expect them to mention. It wasn't until then that I mentioned the dealer as being in any way responsible. Up until that point, the post was regarding the case, not the company. I posted how amazing Nielson's Billiards was when I ordered the Instroke, and am only conveying fact regarding my experience with BudgetCues. My expectations as a consumer are up for debate, but I do expect them to help me through the process.. billiards is such a niche market that I would hope a company dedicated to cues and accessories would be more forthcoming with known issues in products they sell. If the case smelled bad, looked weird, etc.. then it's on me.. but if it's completely non-functional for the large majority of products for which it's intended to support, then I expect to be told ahead of time. That may be unreasonable, but is what it is.

Also, Scott, I honestly don't think she hung up on me.. their phone system appears to suck. I was nothing but pleasant with her, and she was pleasant with me. I'm hoping to get a reply to my email at some point, or a call back from her.. Nothing in her tone suggested than she doesn't intend to make this right. While their response time leaves more to be desired than I can continue to do business with, I will be left saying good things just as soon as I get that money back. I bash the case, sure, it's crap.. but so far I can't say the same for BudgetCues. Not keeping me from making a bad decision, while less than I want from a company, is still not enough for me to 'bash' them.. state my displeasure, sure, but I've not yet begun to bash.

Ok...Ya got me Mike. I wouldn't hang up on the guy, and I would try to help him fix whatever was the problem. I have sold, over the years, a lot of Action products, and for the most part, they were pretty well made (for the $$$). Their return policy was always very generous too, when it wasn't "up to snuff". I know this is a case of 'second-generation' purchase, and maybe that's where the problem lies. Are you coming to Vegas?

I believe Action Elite cases are distributed by Cuestix International out of or near Denver, Colorado. You might want to contact them to discuss the situation.
What type of cue was it that got stuck?

Oh I bet BudgetCues will fix me up, once they ever reply or call back (I still can't get through). I wouldn't bother working with Action.. I just don't care that much.

The cues that got stuck were 2 Vikings (yeah, I was stubborn enough to try a second time lol, was hoping I had just put it in wrong) and a Samsara.

Just an update, I never did hear back.. no email, no phone call, and now their phone number just rings and rings, no voicemail. I shipped the case back, they received it friday morning.. no response to my inquiry confirming their receipt.

I won't bore you all with the fun that is sure to ensue, as my post was only intended to warn potential buyers of this case to be sure to inquire whether the tubes are soft or rubbery.. as the rubber ones seem to be problematic.

Nope, and nope.. thanks for thoughts though.. on further inspection it appears the 'tubes' are more ovular than round.. looks almost like they put the wrong insert in the wrong case.

Maybe badly packed in shipping and the tubes got distorted by something placed on top???

Doesn't the contrast in your experience and Bastian point with the problem with buying low-end? Namely, quality control.

They definitely seemed distorted.. ovular for sure.. which seemed to be a likely culprit for the cues getting stuck. I doubt it was the shipping of the case though, as it was well packed when I received it. In trying to get the Samsara out I tried hard to budge the case in any direction but it was rock solid.. if anything this would have happened before the tubes were put in the case.

The upside, of course, was that I had reason to spend the cash on an Instroke that I absolutely love.. it's perfect.

My very first cue case was an Action and the same thing happened with my Viking. If anyone is looking for a reasonably priced case that is worth the money, I would also definitely recommend Neilsen's on eBay. Also, check out ASKA cues on eBay as well. I bought my current case from them (at an insanely good price) and the quality and customer service were both phenomenal.

Whew.. finally got an email back, saying that 'they did find that you were correct and the case was was indeed defective'.. my card supposed to be credited today. It's odd that they had to send it back to Action before refunding my money, and that it took 2 weeks to hear back from them, but hey, at this point I'm just glad to be done with it.
