Hey guys, I've got a buyer from Indonesia. He just sent me a paypal payment and wants me to send a cue out to him in Indonesia. The name that he wants me to ship to does not match the name on the payment. Is there anything I should be concerned about here? Your help is appreciated!

Yep, its the stolen credit card capital of the universe.

Different name on the details? Fraud city.

He buys with stolen credit card, you ship, he gets goods for free, credit card company gets money back from your bank if you don't have cover (sometimes they will do this even when you do have cover).

Not saying it is but it all points to the same thing. I had a guy from Indonesia offering me $8000 for a $4000 cue a while back. I wonder why, lol!

Without all the details it's hard to say. A while ago all the scams on ebay were coming from Indonesia. People caught on and they have slowed down. I would definitely get an acceptable answer from him on the name thing. Most important, nothing should ship till you have money in your bank account and not just in the Paypal account. They were using stolen credit cards before so it will look, on the surface, like everything is OK and you will be out a cue. Did he pay you a higher price than you were asking? If so, that's your first clue somethings up. Some of the other members may have better info for you. This is just my experience with it.

I would tell him that I would only ship in the continental USA.

Yeah he did. Also I got the other guy's email off the details in the paypal payment and sent him an email asking him if it was indeed him that made the payment. Totally different email from the guy in Indonesia. I'm thinking it's gotta be fraud man. The guy who's card it was has a comcast email, and the guy from Indonesia has an orderyuk.com email?

If something does not sit right with you, then something is probably wrong. These guys count on greed getting the advantage over common sense. There is a slight chance that the deal is legit...there is a much better chance that it is fraud and you are going to lose out.

refuse the payment and send it back if there is even a whiff it is fraudulent.

PS: Remy...I live in the UK and I have been buying and selling cues internationally for 12 years. There are still some good guys in the world other than the USA.

That's good to hear. The poster asked how to proceed and I gave him my opinion, I never said that everyone from overseas was bad.

I'm sure that there are a lot of good guys like yourself out there, this one just doesn't sound legit. Again, these are my .02, not trying to get in a pissing contest with anyone.

Have a good day.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Many apologies. I actually concur with what Remy said then....just tell them you will not ship outside of the US and refuse payment.

It's all good Diamond :) :)

How about not shipping the cue till the payment clears or I hear back from the guy whos name's on the payment? How long do credit card companies have anyways to cancel a payment?

How about telling him that you are not comfortable with this arrangement and wishes to transact only through direct bank transfer.

He can also use an escrow service if he does not trust you on his part.

This way it will be safe for both party and you will not lose a deal.

I would only accept postal money order, western union or bank wire transfer. If you do much overseas, set up a separate sweep account with your bank. As soon as the money hits your wire account, transfer to your main account. Never give out your main account details. I hope this helps.

Hmmm... Both good ideas.

Hmmm... Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tip.

Kiss the deal good-bye

Confidence level with Indonesian Paypal and crdit card transactions is 0%.

It is the #1 capital in the world for stolen credit card accounts. Forget the deal completely, reject the money out of your account, because once the real owner of the Paypal account or credit card used for the Paypal finds out he has been victimized, the money will be taken from your account anyway or removed from your bank account on record.

I would send a message to the customer service deparment of Paypal notifying them of this so they at least protect the original guys account and maybe they will follow up with the credit card company the funds are coming out of.

Definitely DO NOT TRANSACT YOUR BANK account INFORMATION FOR BANK WIRE PAYMENT. You already know this is not a legitimate player, why give them more account access information??? They already have too much information about you as it is. They probably got the information they have on the Paypal through Phishing. Don't be another victim.
