I really have to laugh at the opinions about certain manufacturers cues.
There are a lot of cues that are made overseas that are production cues that sell for less money then american made cues and have inlays in them also. I do not want to get into a big discussion about this subject but I shoot with one of them production cues (Imperial) just because I have been using that stick for years. I sell pool tables, cues, cases, and more and can use many different brand sticks. To me its the shooter and the knowledge they possess that makes them good. If you have a halfway decent stick and the tip you like on it then that whats important.
Don't get me wrong a nice custom made cue by a reputable cue stick maker might retain its value over the years and if they become well known enough and get a good reputation for cue making then the stick can also go up in value. Like I have a palmer that is worth more than I paid for it etc. This is only my opinion as I am considered one of the best shooters in my area and for business reasons I play on 4 different nights in 4 different leagues and have won in numerous tournaments locally.
Thanks
Ron
Ron, I also Own a Business, I own a Pool Hall, I have a retail store attached, and I do full cue repair along with build Custom Conversion cues. I do a great deal of cue repair and I see the problems with the import cues very frequently. Now, I do sell lower end imports because they are great for a beginning player, however, the problems I find are not a problem in the lower end cues. I figure what can you expect from a cue that cost less than $150, but I totally disagree that cues above this price should be considered due to their construction and how they age.
But, to each his or her own, I am only trying to point out from my experience what I know is a fact, with no personal stake in it. I am only trying to present a different point of view so that people know what they are getting into.
Have a nice day!!!!
