Buying cues...what's YOUR limit?

$500. I have a couple nice McDermotts with an I2 shaft both of which I paid less than $500 for. I have a third on the way, same configuration that I am getting for about $450. My Jerico stinger ran about $360 IIRC.

A nice player with a standard and a low deflection shaft for less than $500 is all I'll ever need. I love the way the I2 hits and I can send the cue back to McDermott a couple times a year for maintenance. Currently it's $21.95 (covers shipping and handling) for a 10 point inspection, cleaning, wrap dress and retip (moori med comes with the I2) I figure the money covers the moori tip, and the rest is gratis.
The first time I sent my Breedlove in for service, they rewrapped it because of a tiny gap in the linen. Customer service is very good, they respond to emails promptly, although their turn around is slower than the 2 weeks advertised on their website (closer to 4) which is fine because if one is out for service I have another that hits just like it to play with.

If I had the money I wouldn't even consider a limit. If I bought a Gus Szamboti for $15,000 I would use it on a regular basis. Cues are made to shoot pool and if I had any of those high dollar cues I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Right now my highest priced cue is either my James White (over 2 thousand) and my SouthWest (proabably over 3 thousand). I didn't pay for the SouthWest but I did trade a cue that cost me close to $5,000 that I played with all the time. Yes, I even broke with it.

Your cues will be just fine if you take care of them.
