Buying my first table

I just bought a house that has a game room big enough for a 9' table. I have been shopping around for a table and I found a GC V for $4,500. It appears to be in good shape from the photos. My question is whether $4,500 for a GC V is a good price or not.

I don't see any other GC V's on the used table market so I am not sure. When I compare the price to a Diamond Pro or ProAM it seems like the Diamond would only cost me another $1,500 more installed.

I love GC's but is this one too expensive?

Thanks,

I'm looking for advice, I don't even know if that is a good price for a new 9' Diamond ProAm. I was quoted $5k plus $1,400 or so for installation since it is on the second floor. I was told that if I bought a tournament used table that they would knock of $400 bucks.

But since I don't know if that is a good price or if $4,500 for a 9' GC V tournament edition I really don't have a good idea if I should move on it or not. I was hoping to get some advice from this forum from people that have educated opinions on the matter.

Anyone out there that can help guide me as to whether this is a good way to go?

Thanks,
-E

Look up some posts by real king cobra he is a master with gold crowns and also one of the main installers for diamond tables. He has a lot of posts on good and bad of gc4 & 5 compared to a diamond also he can have you measure the stairwell and misc to make sure a diamond is easy to get up to the second floor.

Ok thanks. I have come across some RKC posts and they all do seem very good. I'll go digging to see what I find. Thanks again.

Just my 2 cents!

I work on lots of the Gold Crowns and in my opinion they are the best pool tables in the WORLD.

Just look at the 2 side by side, GOLD CROWN IS SO MUCH PRETTIER!!

As for "Diamond Wood" Who is the hell is going to ever need to hit the table with a hammer?

The Pro AM is by far the ugliest design on earth!!! The Pro obviously stole its looks from the Gold Crown. LOL, it is my opinion and nothing more.

as for both playwise: They both play AMAZING< So it is a hard decision and it comes down to this for me: Brunswick has been making pool tables since 1845. I am done with my opinion.

P.s. The pool hall I captain my BCA team out of has 12 Diamond Tables

I don’t about the cost which one is better.

I cant paste the pool table image which i have bought.

What are some of the main differences between the GCI, II, III, IV & V? If I were in the market for a GCI, could you please advise me on some things to look for and a fair market price?

Thanks

Two years ago I bought a mint condition GC IV for $2,500. That included new Simonis 860, delivery and install from a well respected mechanic. A local dealer had a used GC V for sale at $5,000 and my table was in much better shape.

Big C, I would think a GC I would be around 1,000 in very nice condition. Beat up I's would be much cheaper but require a lot of money in cloth, rails, new wood for staples etc.
