buying production

This question will seem stupid to a lot of people out there, for that I apologize.

One of the dumbest things I have ever done was sell my cues when I hurt my shoulder. Now that I'm on the road to recovery, I want to buy new sticks. Since I can't afford a custom, I plan on buying a production Joss. Here's my problem: I saw somebody playing with the stick I plan on buying. I know that buying production means that it is not a one of a kind, but I'm not sure about buying a model I know somebody else has. Should I not worry about this, or does anybody else feel this way?

Buy what YOU like. Who cares what other people think about it. It should fit your budget and your playing style and appeal to you from a looks standpoint.

yes i feel that way as well, it's like two women showing up to a party, and they are both wearing the same dress, YIKES! if you want a cue, that no one will have, it will feel and hit great, and look like $2000, go to www.malicloth.com click cues, scroll down to rayfer billiards 800 toll free #, ask for mike tell him bernie sent you, order the Mali V-9 in 19 oz. for $206 including shipping, you will flip out!!, the V-9 is crushed turquiouse inlaid into african ebony.

Are you worried about what the other person thinks about you getting the same cue? If this is the case I would not worry about it. He has the same choices as you. He could have bought a custom cue also if this was a worry to him.

In all honesty, I couldn't care less what the other guy might think. Its just that I used to own a couple of "semi-custom" cues. I say semi custom because they weren't built to my exact specs, but they were original. I enjoyed knowing that nobody had another stick that looked my mine. I actually ordered the stick through a local guy, but I canceled it over a price dispute (he decided that the price quote was to low so he upped the price). I really like it, so I guess I'm going get it.

Life must be hell for you when it's time to buy a car or new underwear. :)

I feel the same way...i don't like people shooting with the same stick but what are you gonna do right? Even if you don't buy the cue that that guy has and buy another one chances are someone will buy that too.

If you are concerned about that, Dale Perry has been selling his one of a kind cues as low as $225 on E-Bay.

For 10 years I played with a $200 production Huebler. The cue was great. I play with a Joss West now. Just the other day I picked up the Huebler and hit balls with it. It's still like new. I still think it's one of the best playing cues ever, and I've never seen another cue like it.
