that is relative to how many players are in the event.
Also there is no specific chart numbers to use but the byes should be spread out evenly on the chart. If you look at the chart (on the Winners side) you can see it is easily divided up into smaller brackets starting with 32, 16, 8, 4 and 2. Use those as your guidelines. If you have 48 players in the event then find the 16 bracket (because you will have 16 byes) and then make sure that in the opening rounds there is a bye in each of those brackets.

The length of those bye lists don't make sense.
If you're hosting a 64-person entry tournament and you have 32 entries or less, the TD shouldn't use a 64 person chart. The TD should use a 32 person chart. There is no need for 32 byes in a 64 person chart.

When I ran a tourney, I numbered the bracket spots to build-in the byes. So, if you have 23 players, you use the spots numbered 1-23.
The attached is for 8-24 players, but you can see how the logic would scale up to 64.
Another nice feature is that late players can always come in at the lowest open numbered spot (and, in my tournaments, pay a higher entry fee for being late).
