A few guys in a league I play in bring their own balls to the poolhall and assume it's fine that they're used in their matches. It bugs me, but I go along mostly because nobody else seems to mind. Would I be a jerk to complain? Would you complain?

The house ball are generally pretty clean, theirs are immaculate. But I'm used to the house balls and how they play.

You may be perceived as a jerk but you would not be wrong. Reminds you of people who always want to play on certain tables.

In my league some bring Magic Racks. The league director allows it on the stipulation that you get your opponent's permission.

If its your match, your opponent needs your consent and you have a right to refuse, without giving reason.

If this is regarding the entire league, then come up with rational reasons to back up your objection, otherwise you could come off as a knee-jerk to your fellow league players.

I take my "aramith pro tournament" to practice with only as they "play" different than the house balls and most would agree that if one is playing a match later then they want to practice with that set. the house balls play different than what I have. also, really clean balls do not "throw" as much as the dirty house balls. I got a set because I was tired of the "house" dirty and chipped sets.
 
Like said above, clean balls throw way different than most house balls, giving the guy that brought the balls an advantage...esp if it's just 1 set. Johnnyt
