IMHO the future of cue tips is synthetic tips, I am not against leather tips but like wood you will always have inconsistent results, all natural products will never be exactly alike, animal hide will never grow to the exact same thickness just like all woods have different grain, even from the same tree, I have played guitar for almost 50 years, the same kind of guitar can sound very different depending on what wood is being used, it's the same with anything made of wood, CF solved that problem although I don't believe all CF shafts are created equal do some research if you are thinking about going to a CF shaft or cue, I know of at least one synthetic tip, I've been using that tip since March of this year and am very happy with it, just like everything one size does not fit all, don't be afraid to try something new.
