All, I am sorry if this makes me look stupid, but I am dying to hear your input. What happens if someone who chose not to include himself in the calcutta wins the tournament? I think the 2nd place finisher would get 1st place calcutta money, and so on down the line. Thoughts??
 
I would think the second place player would get the first place money, and so on down the line....
 
I've never seen a TD allow a player to go unbought. If there are no bids on some players, they are sold as a group at the end of the auction. I have seen a case where no-one bid on that group, so the TD lowered the price. Still no bids, he bought them himself just to keep this from happening.

This would be my thought as well. But, if they did allow it, the money would just go to the next player in line (2nd).
 
Around here if your not bought you will be put in with the "field" and someone can buy the whole group
 
longhair and johnnydub: The case easy-e was referring to involved a person who specifically asked not to be included in the calcutta. Therefore he was not part of the field and could not be bought by anybody.

You are only "in the field" if you are part of the calcutta and nobody bought you.

In all cases under our guidelines if you participate in the Auction and purposely forfeit a match you are fined the amount that the buying bidder purchased you for. If a player chooses not to participate in an auction they and everyone else that makes that choice are sold as 1 block for 1 bid. At that time it is the buyers 100% risk. The players have no option to buy 1/2 of themselves and the buyer gets 100% of the winnings. If nobody buys the block it is standard on the Viking Tour to donater it to charity (MS Foundations).

This has always been know as "the move" if you were a road player in the past. Basically, 99% of all road players as to not participate in the auction. Why?: A: Fear someone will recognise them and kill their action in a particular area. B: Because the block is usually sold real low and they can buy themselves cheap. C: In case they forfeit out of the event because they found the action they were looking for.

Never heard of this situation.

That is why there is always a minimum bid (usually $10) or players that don't get bought in the bidding are usually grouped into the 'field' and are then bid upon as a group.

Yes I do, but I won't divulge that here. It was at a small regional tournament recently.
