California Billiards, who reopened in Fremont recently, hosts two one pocket tournaments the second weekend of the month.
Saturday had 31 players in a $30 entry fee race to two on the winners side and one on the losers side. Yours truly placed 3rd, put on the one loss side by Steve 'Lizard' Smith, who just came back to CA and won this tournament.
Sunday is a $75 entry fee race to two on both sides. We had 15 players and Steve knocked me to the one loss side again and Chris Cruz, an upcoming young player from Fresno, knocked me out before the $$. Lizard won the hot seat and probably won the tournament again for a sweep. I left before the final match for a 2 1/2 hour drive home.
I had a great weekend, was in action before and after the tournaments, playing one pocket and golf on the 6 x 12 and went home around even after playing all the pool I could stand.
This room is really humming after being closed for quite a while and reopening at a new location. Full bar, great food and great equipment to play on, and there is action if you are looking for it.
