Do any of the cuemakers here have experience working wih camateo wood for the forearm and butt sleeve of a cue? If so how does it feel compared to maple forearms? Is it heavier or denser than maple? Should it be cored?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

I believe it's spelled camatillo and here is a pic of some of it.

At first it looks almost like ebony but is actually more of a black cherry. Hope it helps.

WOW I LIKE THAT! and the cue looks good too!

To bad the rings are nickel. Ivory would have been better. Given a choice, I'd take the girl in your avatar. Keep the cue.

Actually I believe there is ivory dashes sandwiched by nickle rings. Did you mean ivory rings and dashes? Maybe you meant just lose the rings.

And thanks for the avatar compliment. Hula hoop lessons just ended. She's been wanting to learn an instrument sooooo I am going to let her use me so she can become an expert at the skin flute. I keep telling her...Practice make perfect.

Hey Getnbzy, Thanks for all the info. Who made the cue in your pic? I did find more info with the correct spelling... Too much time in the pool hall as a kid...
