Can a 3/8x10 shaft fit onto a 3/8x11 butt?

It can, have a good repairman or cue maker bore, plug and retap for 3/8-11 threads.
Its a litter more involved bug not a hard fix.

This is a very good way to ruin your shaft.
Get the work done by someone with a level of competence.

Did someone leave the door open again???

KJ

Says the guy who does'nt give a chit how the greats built cues, past is the past and should'nt be repeated, blah, blah, blah:rolleyes:

I got a dual tapped shaft that i'd play you some with in a heartbeat:cool:

How do you figure the shaft would be "ruined"? Worst case, it would just need plugged, and retapped. Hardly ruined, now is it?

Don't let that door hit ya, where the good lord split ya;)

Not recommended

I know a guy that has a Blud that says some of his 3/8-10 shafts will screw on it depending on the level of wear in the shafts. I'm not saying I would recommend trying it though.

I have had good luck double tapping radial threads with any other 3/8 thread. The 3/8 x 10 and 11 are too close and might work for alittle while but then they will strip.

Best to have repair man plug and retap.

Really???
You come into the cue-makers' section doling out bad advice, get called
on it, then you start woofing and provoking.
I fail to see how that will address the OP.
It's not your thread, it's not my thread. It's his thread, show some respect.
If you're looking for an exciting piss-match, please look elsewhere.

Dan,

You are beating your drum with the wrong man. KJ knows more about what he is talking about and has the experience to be a wise man indeed. You are not so wise.

You need to chill. You are making fool of yourself in public again with your mouth crap as usual.

The way I see it. You are an embarrassment.

BTW, I like when you say that you build cues now and then just for the enjoyment. Post some pics. I think not. You are pathological.

Rick

Since you work very hard to piss people off, this one is for you once more. You earned it.!!

I couldnt have said it any better Rick, the true measure of a man can be gauged by the trash flowing from his mouth and the lack of understanding about the topic they are speaking....Love the troll spray !!

3/8-10 shaft

I hope this helps. I had a friend make another shaft for me, I have a Prather and they use 3/8-11 and he thought is was 3/8-10 and kept wondering why the shaft went on soo tight. her bored out the shafts minor diameter and it wend on easily. I did not like it because it wobbled a little as you screwed it on but once it was tight it was good.

So the moral I would say is do Not do it. Just my 2 cents.

Plug and re tap it..... Listen to everybody here it shouldn't be too costly. I plugged my predator with purple heart and love the way it feels and hits with a 3/8 x 10 pin (I tried the regular maple, plastic as well as phenolic) purple heart feels great.

As for the comments toward kj.... It baffles me. Not may people on here give out as much advice as he does. I have messages him for help 1 or 2 times and has never given me a problem. Although I don't post too often I do a lot of reading and learning. And there are a select few that give great advice and are willing to help and he is one of them.

To call him out to play him in a rack of pool is childish and unnecessary. Have some respect. Thanks!

Thank You from my heart for the support (from many) that I've received from this thread.
I've been in this business a long time. Long enough to know who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't.
One of the things that keeps me coming back is the incredible talent of some of our fellow CMs.
These are some of the most talented CMs in the world. Big statement I know but none the less true.
They give their time & talent to this forum and expect nothing in return.
They just want to help because they can.
Gentlemen, you are the best and you have my respect.

KJ
