I looked through your photo essay, (nice cues, BTW) but still don't have a clue what you're asking??:confused: :confused:
 
I think he wants you to price the cues for him so that he can gauge whether to buy any and attempt to resell them. That is my best guess.

No, I am not going to buy any of these, mainly looking for any clues as to how to nail down an approx age as well as approx value for insurance reason for the owner, he is planning on selling some of these, not at the exact moment, he wants to know a little more about them first (market value's and age first and foremost) All I'm asking is for a bit of help to LEARN how to identify these cues as certain era's and makers, I really want to learn the ins and outs of cue IDing and approx appraisals.
 
Well I'd buy that joss east gold letter for 360 if that helps with your values.
 
Alright, for what it's worth - I am quoting the projected auction cash value:

Early Black Boar, late 1980's early 1990's - they are not as pricey or as sought after as the later models - $1000 would be average.

It's George - this is a very nice one, a fancy George made by Mike Roberts probably toward the end in the mid 1990's. At the time, this cue likely retailed for $1400 - $1600. I would want $1200 for it but would expect as little as $1000. If it's not an ivory joint, this one looks like it has the phenolic linen joint he used for a short time (most were stainless).

1980's Joss - pantograph inlays take away from this cue - $400 to $500 tops.

JW - the one with inlays - is a relatively fancy Joss West cue by Bill Stroud from the mid to late 1970's. I would be asking $1400 to $1500 for it. You can expect this cue to continue to increase in value. The plain one is only a $600 or so cue from the same time period.

The Schon is a model from the early 1990 period - don't ask me which Model # please, probably in the "SP" line, about $600. Evan if Evan says it's one of a kind, it's just another pantograph Schon, although I admit that's a good looking forearm on the cue.

The Meucci is a JR-3 from the mid 1980's, Jimmy Rempe series cue. They sell pretty easily but the prices are all over the place - $300 today $400 tomorrow. Same with the SE III Meucci, all over the place, probably in the $400 to $500 price range.

These are just my opinion, although I've had quite a bit of experience buying and selling all of these brands except Black Boar.

The Mottey's I will defer to others - they should be easy to price.

Thanks Chris, I was right around the same price range as you were, except for the Schon, Evan said that the cost to build the cue would be $1000 today to dealers, (which this cue would have only been given to dealers back then, it was a "project" cue). So I'm having a hard time getting a number for this one, but who knows till someone pays for it eh'....I thank you greatly kind sir, much appreciated.

few things of note:

Fancy george- weight is 14.9 oz butt and 3.8 oz shaft, test hit only, easily 98-99% new other than a little chalk on the tip. Rings at all postions 4 ebony points into a great figured birdseye(?) forearm, 4 veneers of maple/green/blue/black. Diamonds in each point as well as 4 groupings of 4 diamonds in the butt. Rings at all postions as well

Stained george- New shaft that has a very slight (almost undetecatable) wobble, cue has some glue residue on the butt, not sure from what but its noticeable, overall conditon is 90-95% 14.4 oz butt and 3.9 oz shaft

Joss East- 4 Pt ebony into maple 4 veneers of maple/blue/purple/black, ebony butt sleeve. Shaft has a noticeable wobble, but appears to be test hit only, the tip on it is blue? approx 90-93% conditon 15.7 oz butt and 4.1 oz shaft

Joss West- Birdseye forearm and butt sleeve, original shaft with irory ferrule, test hit only, but the forearm does have some knicks and finish bumps. I would say 75% conditon to be safe, probably more around 80% butt weighs 16.9 oz and shaft is 3.9 oz.

Mottey player's cue- Brand spanking new, never hit not one single mark on this beauty, 4 pt cocobolo into birdseye ivory hoppe ring in butt two shafts with ivory ferrule's as well, I will say 98% conditon but personally its 100% in my mind, made in 95 and one of 40 cues to be made by him that year, price then was $1000 from paul. butt weight is 15.5 shafts are both 3.9

Mottey J/B- made from a valley house cue, one of maybe 40 produced by paul 15.2 oz butt and 3.4 oz shaft, approx 80% conditon

Joss west fancy- 4 pt ebony into maple, 4 veneers of maple/silver/orange/black. 4 notched diamonds inbetween 4 birdseye windows in the butt verry llittle use, shaft is straight and has a ivory ferrule with very little play (less than 3 games) butt weighs 15.7 oz and shaft is 3.7 oz. 70-75% conditon

Please just PM me about them and I will let him know, essentially I am the seller in the sense that he knows nothing about the cues and I am in charge of figuring out what is fair market on them and letting him know (consulting I guess), PM me with a buy offer if you wish, the price he had in mind last I talked to him about the fancy george was over $1600.

Hi James: I believe in your original post you said the owner of the cues was actually a pool room owner. Please PM his contact info (Pool Room name, tele). I'm interested in the BB but would like to talk to him or even stop by his room, if he's not too far away, since I believe you also stated he'll be putting most of the cues in the showcase for sale. Guys, like I said before, I am the selling these for him, I have pm'd everyone what he wants for them, he is not very accessable and truely knows NOTHING about the values of these, he only goes based on what I suggest, therefore you must go thru me as his want prices are way higher than what I know they should sell for, but he will listen to me, as he stated, let him know what people will buy for and send it to whoever pays the price he likes.

Not trying to be a dick, but a bunch of people calling him will do nothing but piss him off, he asked me to take care of all prices and sales, only thing I have to do is confirm with him before anything I get rid of.
