Currently, i've been playing just under 2 years.
I can consistently make 5 sometimes 6 ball runs ( 9 ball ).
When I'm on, i'm a threat to run out if the table has a good spread.

Hopefully that little bit of knowledge will help you gauge where i'm at currently as a player. I don't need a book telling me how to place my bridge hand or explaining what top english is lol... I need something that can push me through to the next level.

The 99 Critical Shots - Ray "Cool Cat Martin"

This book will teach you how to manage your balls, how to move furniture around which will help out your 8 ball game and straight pool.

Any of Phil Capelle or Robert Byrnes libraries of books.

If you want to really learn how to move around a table pick up

Winning One Pocket
Winning One Pocket- Shots Moves and Strategies
Three Cushion BIlliards

These three books are written by Eddie Robins, the two one pocket books were co-written with him by some of the best ever in the game. (Eddie Taylor, Grady, Marshall Carpenter, Jersey Red, etc...if you need contact info to purchase these let me know. They are expensive, but for the knowledge they are priceless and they're bound very well in leather, embossed and all.

Joe Tuckers Break Book is good too.

Another Great book is "The Inner Game of Tennis" its applys much to the mental level of play, which is the most important in the big scheme of the game to progress your level of play.

Hope that steers you in a good direction.

Books

I've been playing for 7 years I have bought every book, seen maybe 50-60 instructional video's had coaching lessons. If i had to recomend one that would be Phil Capelle's practicing pool. Why? because many of the books on the market are about SHOTS or STROKES or SYSTEMS, or too specific about only one aspect of the game. This is about building your game and all aspects of your game in a well layed out plan from the bottom to top level. If you are honest with yourself and understand how much you need to put in, this book also provides a great matrix to measure progress. You can easily use what is in here for years. Well worth the few bucks.

Double post...or shamless self promotion:thumbup:

Just kidding...thats cheap for the e-book, probably make more off that than printing one i would figure. Thats really cool, and smart Blackjack. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get around to doing something similar, never thought of offering it in a downloadable form...I feel dumb I'm a computer wiz and all I could think about is "dam its expensive to print a book".

I think you should get Blackjack's book ASAP. That's the best to get you started...SPF=randyg
