Can I speed up my cushions?

I have an Olhausen 7' table with accu-fast cushions.
The rebound is a bit slower then I would like.
I measured the height of the cushion edge from
the bed at 1 7/16 which I read is standard. From
what I have read you can speed the cushions up
by lowering them, though too low will cause the
balls to jump off the table.

This table has no way to adjust the height, but
due to how the rail cloth is put on, it causes the
top portion of the rail "wood with diamonds" to slope
down from the cushion side out.

Finally to the question, can I put shims under the
far edge of the rail that contacts the outer most
part of the bed to raise up the outside edge? Will
1/16th to 1/8th inch lower do anything?

Thanks,
TheHill

No, because the Accufast cushions are so soft they're just not going to change into what you're looking for speed wise.

Yes, I noticed that they are very soft. I suppose next time I recover the
table I can put on some different cushions. Thanks for the reply, I didn't
want to waist a bunch of time doing it just to find out it wasn't going to work.

felt

if your using a cheaper felt, make sure you have the proper side of felt on the rail as the unfinished side of cheaper grades of felt has more nap and therefore more resistance resultin in a slower rebound...

also i have lightly sanded the rubber before to "freshen them up"
