can somebody explain to me?

If you give them the WILD 7-8-9 that means if they make anytime during that game they win. If you give them the CALL 7-8-9 that means that they have to call it! If they dont call it then the came goes on!

I don't usually include the 9 in the description. If someone gets the 8, I just say you get the 8 (wild), or the call 8 (not wild).

Including the 9 in call 7-8-9 actually makes the 9 a handicap, because normally the 9 does not have to be called.

Thanks for the post Jay!

First of all, I've never played anybody gambling where I was spotting balls. Always played even. I've played tournaments where the last 3 balls means that after the first 6 are down, then they can make the 7 for the win.

The 7,8, & 9 as money balls anytime is new to me. In that first game he made a 3, 7 combination with the 4, 5, & 6 still on the table.

But yes you're right, I was drunk. Its Saturday night, 1130 at night and he calls me wanting to play. I don't usually carry cash on me, debit card every where I go.

We didn't start playing until like midnight when the pool hall closes at 2. We played the way he wanted for an hour, but then when I renegotiate, he wants to leave winners, after playing only for an hour.

Is this proper gambling etiquette? I would never quit winner after playing for only an hour? Would you or have you done this before?

So now I'm the bad guy?
I can understand if I approached him to play, but he came to me. And yes jay, if the situation were reversed I would have told him to pay me when he can. Its only money.

You're not a bad guy, unless you don't pay him the $50. Go take care of it. You'll feel better afterwards. Who wants to be looking over their shoulder for people they owe money too?

Whenever I gambled, I would say anyone can quit whenever they want. WE HAVE NO CONTRACTS! Unless we made an agreement otherwise to play a certain length of time. I wouldn't like it if someone got me stuck and I started to come back and they quit. But it happened to me more than once. Usually a player will let you get even before they quit, but not always. One of the many hazards of gambling.

I learned early on I wanted to get ahead right away. Things always seemed to work out better that way.

Lesson learned...

Lol!
Nope don't regret starting the thread. Actually I don't regret anything. Like someone else stated, it was a lesson learned.

You seem like a good guy, but gambling etiquette has no boundaries. Every one plays differently and some players have very clever "Moves."

If the guy came to play, and was already stuck 200, it sounds as if he was hoping to get a little back. The game was made, someone won and someone lost. In this case the winner isn't paid. Then the argument for adjusting the game is an open door for a player who's ahead (and especially overall still behind) to quit.

If I were watching the game you described, and did not know the players, I assure you I would not play either. Just too messy a game...

Clear it up before you shoot

Can somebody explain to me how a ball spot works in 9 ball. Let's say I give somebody the last 3 balls. Does that mean my opponent can make the 7, 8, or 9 at any time to win the game? Apparently I'm a little confused. Please help!!

The differences in opinion here teaches us all a lesson to clear it up. Actually, the LAST 3 balls as a spot does not necessarily mean the 7,8,9. Be it in rotation (my choice) the 7 and/or the 8 could be made out of
rotation ,such as on the break . Then the last three balls would be the
5,6, and 9. That is definitely not a good bet.

If there is confusion and you lose, pay up and quit.:(

Just for the record. I plan on paying him tonight. The bar he hangs out at is a hop skip and a jump away from me, so ill make it my top priority.

I lost and he won fair and square, so I have every intention on paying him.
