Can someone explain this (Alex vs Gomez)

Reyez Gomez did not simply make the 5 and the 8 for the win.
Instead he knocks out the 5 taking a scratch leaving Alex BIH for an easy run out.
The commentators seemed to say this is the right move.
What are the rules here?

Cause they are playing last pocket 8 ball

Possibly more interesting even, is the soft breaking that they allow. Alex uses a normal, hard break but Reyes Gomez breaks soft which results in a lot of strategy. Looks like they're playing 1P lot of the time.

The rule on the break was that you had to have 3 balls hit rails.
Which isnt much. 1P games have that.
It was a mistake to play 1P style with Alex. If hes an 8 ball player he should break and run out cuz Alex doesnt break as well as he moves.

?? 1p break rules require simply a good hit. 1 OB to the rail or the CB hits a rail.

He didn't say it was a 1 pkt rule, he correctly pointed out that often happens on a 1 pkt break.

The way we worded it. He is saying that 1p requires 3 balls be driven to a rail, which is not true.
