OK, I'm ready. Looks easy enough... go with the 4

picture.php

Needed a little more on that.
Bank it or cut it and; should I BANK my points?
For me 50/50 on this shot.
picture.php

picture.php

I'll cut it.

humm...

Mark down your misses, they're easy to forget if you let it go.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

If I were to of scratched their it would of been an
additional -2 point deduct.
picture.php

Because of, not, BANKing my points, this frame scores 1+2+4-1-1=5.
Add 5 points to the previous frame of 15 +5
adding 20 points to the 3rd frame - totaling 50
picture.php

Add the 5 points in the fourth
picture.php

to the fifth...

The fifth.
Choice of this rack, is,
rack #268 | rack strength 2 1/2. Align this rack as shown.
Similar to the previous rack however, with a tighter pattern
closer to the pockets.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

Mark it up.
picture.php

I'll take the 1.
BTW, you can have a separate bet on the yellow ball.
picture.php

picture.php

That'll work..
picture.php

picture.php

I'll put low touch on the 8.
picture.php

...finishing the fifth.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

Easy follow on the 4 into corner with cue ball off of the rail.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

This will work.
picture.php

picture.php

A run, 1+2+4+8 = 15 points for this frame plus the 6th.

the sixth >>

The sixth,
Choice of the next rack is,
rack #153 | rack strength 2. Line strength in the sixth is 16.
Align this rack as shown.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

I'll go with the one,
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

Could of pushed over a-little more; the 8 will squeak thru though.
The 4 is tempting; would need the push/draw to be real good
for it to work on the 2 or the 8. Keep in mind you must finish in the
open side of the 8.
picture.php

I'm going with the 8.

Finishing the sixth,
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

That'll work... Even though the 2 is in further it is the best way to go.
Carom out off the rail.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

No problem.
picture.php

perfect, 15 points plus the seventh.
Add this 15 to the fifth's 15, making it 85 in the fifth.
picture.php

next...

Choice of the next rack is,
rack #19 | rack strength 1 1/2. Align this rack as shown.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

This rack would put the line strength at 17 1/2 in the 7th.

I'll go with an opening bank shot; you could do a break
shot trying to set up for easier follow up shots or possibly
pocketing an object ball.
Keep in mind that you must finish in the play area.
picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

Not much choice here.
picture.php

I've already lost my chance to run out a perfect frame, so,
every object ball has a 2 shot possibility. I could 2 rail the
4 into the 2-ball rack on the other side finishing the cue ball
in the middle of the table. However,I'll go with an soft cut on
the 4 into the corner leaving the cue ball in the middle of the table.
picture.php

picture.php

So much for a soft shot, a little luck would of been to of hit
the 1, 8 rack head on for a break out with the cue ball finishing in.
This Frame Is Over
THERE IS NO PENALTY (no minus points) FOR GOING OUT BOUNDS.
Mark this with an underscore mark outside of the box.

This frame scores -1+1+2=2; Having a "strike" in the previous frame (6th),
the sixth receives no 7th frame points. Sixth frame points of 15 are added,
giving it, the sixth 100 points.
Add the 2 points in the 7th.
picture.php

on to the important eighth...

Choice for the eighth rack is,
rack #279 | rack strength 3. Align this rack as shown.
Eighth_rack.jpg

Duplicate the in/out rack at the inside sight on opposite
sides of the table.
Eighth_rack.a.jpg

The eighth frame has an point advantage. Not only
having the opportunity to score an additional 15 points
from the ninth final frame. A strike, run, in the ninth
earns a "bonus rack". Bonus rack points are added
to this eighth frame, so, do not miss, pick a rack that
you're having a good run on without giving up to much line strength.
Eighth_rack.b.jpg

Eighth_rack_S.jpg

Going with the 8.
Eighth_rack1.jpg

Eighth_rack2.jpg

Eighth_rack_S1.jpg

All 3 have possibilities.
Eighth_rack2a.jpg

Eighth_rack2b.jpg

I'll go with the 1.
Eighth_rack2c.jpg

...at the limits here, I'll rap this up in the next couple of post's.

...finishing the eighth,
Eighth_rack3.jpg

Eighth_rack_S2.jpg

Eighth_rack3a.jpg

Eighth_rack4.jpg

Eighth_rack_S3.jpg

Very fortunate. Pushing the cue ball to my right with a little draw
hits the left then the right side of the pocket, rolling slowly to
the cross corner. There are a lot of shots/racks that you're
flirting with a side pocket scratch.
Eighth_rack4a.jpg

Eighth_rack5.jpg

15 points. With the 9th and bonus rack there is a possible
50 points to add in the eighth.
Eighth_rack_S4.jpg

On to the final 9th frame...

The ninth and final rack,
rack #268 | rack strength 3. Align this rack as shown.
Ninth_rack.jpg

Ninth_rack.a.jpg

Ninth_rack.b.jpg

Need all of them.
Ninth_rack1.jpg

Not the pop I wanted.
Ninth_rack2.jpg

Ninth_rack2a.jpg

Ninth_rack3.jpg

NO bonus rack possible, make the best of it.
Ninth_rack3b.jpg

I was suppose to cut the 4 easy.
Ninth_rack4.jpg

Ninth_rack_S.jpg

There you have it, a line of 4-Ball of 117 @ 23 degrees.
A pencil with ereaser reconmended for scoring.
There are 622 rated 4-Ball locations using 3 different racks.
4-Ball in its purest form is choice of rack. Other formats are,
line of sights, pot luck, golf, darts and match play.

I do have this line on html pages however, they will be
replaced with new lines over time. These posts, I would like to think,
are kind of in historical safe storage. Enjoy.

So. what's your best line?

Racks on racks on racks

3 ball for lowest number. 9-ball break and run. 14.1 or straight pool. You can play this for hours to keep your run high. Tho straight pool will keep you up for hours trying to bear your best run.

8-ball ghost, 9-ball ghost and straight pool.

And if your game is not good enough to beat the 9 ball ghost (like mine) don',t forget you can play 7 ball ghost , can't beat that go to 6, can't beat that go to 5, when you beaten one, add a ball, can't win with the added ball in ten (or whatever # you like) games, go back, take a ball away and start over.

My version of straight pool? Instead of racking and setting up a break shot to see how high of run you can go, I rack all 15 and play the opening safe shot. Continue for ten racks and count the number of errors; misses, fouls and poor safe plays. Playing this way simulates more of a real game experience IMO. Keep track of your scores (total # of errors for all 10 racks), set goals, and it really shows your progress.

You could also count the number of "possible" break shots that you would leave your opponent.

Ghost

I'll vote with the others suggesting playing the Ghost... 10 ball, 9 ball, take it down if you need to, 5 or 6 ball, play an imaginary race against Casper. remember, one miss and he's out.
