I totally agree that this wood will ding very easily, however, there are ways to get around that work very well.

This product works very very well, you apply it after your finish sanding directly to the wood. I normally put it on a rag and apply it with the wood spinning, it soaks in very well. I normally wait 24 hr's before applying sealer, but I apply it directly over the above product.

I too have had fairly good experience with this stuff on some crazy woods, but not quite like that at the final stages. I actually cut the pcs. 12-13 inches and soaked them, submerged. In some pcs it added close to an ounce of weight and the hardness was exponentially greater.

After about 5 minutes in a small room i was lit.

Yeah the fumes are quite bad. Acetone and Ketone. They can actually melt quite a vareity of plastics, so I would be very careful putting it on an assembled cue. I used it in my vac chamber and the fumes melted all the seals in the pump after only 3 uses.

Hi,

I use highly figured curly from Oregon on my handles without wraps. I core my cues and have not seen any movement on a bunch of cues with this material. It is noticeably lighter in weight than the hard curly I use for forearms.

From what I understand, this really high figured maple comes the high canopy part of the tree. Under the finish, it gives the illusion that looks like it is threads that are 1/2 deep. I love the stuff. I first saw it on a Dave Kiegel Cue and it was love at first sight.

Thanks for the tip on the wood hardner. It can't hurt to use it.

Sounds like if I keep my windows closed there might be a cheap high in my future from using it.:joyful: Seriously, best apply it in the spay booth with the mask and the fan on! If you are smelling it, it is killing you with it's cumulative effects to you liver and totally body burden.
