It of course was or did abuse something. I don't really want to fix it :D :D But I was just wondering What you guys think of this cue as far as construction style goes?

Of coarse it could be fixed. There is nothing that is broke that can't be fixed but at what cost? Usually, if it's not a sentimental or collector cue, it's not worth investing the money for a proper repair. On a production cue, the cost to manufacture is usually pretty low. When it comes time for major repairs this production cue now becomes a one of a kind, high labor cue.

I don't like 3/8" bolt going inside a veneered forearm.

Rule #1........
Smacking forearm on top of rail after missing shot is strictly prohibited.

Not a fan of this style of forearm and handle marriage.........

<~~~as mentioned....all is fixable.....

Size of the tenon worries me more than the pin. I'd guess 70% to 80% of real short spliced cues are made this way. Just different dimensions. We've had the discussion before. Tenon up or down. Up your into the points and veneer. Down the tenon is basically points and veneer material. Pick you poison. Sorry Dave, forgot to add butterflies to the mix.

Check this out. Broken Wrapless handle upon arrival..

Sure it can be fixed.
With enough money and parts anything can be fixed.

Looks like a new forearm from prather and a new chunk of handle maple from 'Gone Batty" with about 40 hours of labor would do it.

Actually a new cue from your local cue seller would be the best fix.

As far as construction ... I would need to look over the cue in my hands before making any rash judgments about the skill of the cuemaker.

I bet most of you would be shocked if you could really see what is inside some high dollar cues.
Hell ... I am suprised by what I sometimes see on the outside!

I have mentioned this before. I have seen a video where Lori (SW) says that "we dowel an inch and-a-half up into the fore-arm and an inch and-a-half down into the butt which helps us maintain a consistent balance point".....

X-ray Joey???;)

PS- I don't think there is a cue out there whos' "A-joint" would withstand a "Bo-Jackson" thigh anyways!!
I have seen guys break shafts just above joint because they lean on them too much after a botched shot. What some people will do to a cue.......
