Can This Tip/Ferrule Be Replaced?

These are a couple of pics of the break shaft with the G-10 ferrule/tip that I recently bought for a Lucasi butt. The problem is that it makes white streaks on the cloth when I break. None of my other shafts do this, not sure why this one would unless its due to the material on the ferrule/tip.

Anyway, was wondering if one of you cuemakers could remove this ferrule/tip and replace it with a regular ferrule and tip? Perhaps the Samsara break tip, or something medium hard.

The simplest thing would be to face the rounded end off leaving that material as the ferrule, and install a break tip.

Also, the entire ferrule could be replaced and a new ferrule and tip be installed by any competent cuesmith.

You can also try and modify your breaking so you don't drive the shaft down into the table, but you didn't ask about that, so don't read this part, just read the answers above. :)

Every ferrule can be replaced.

As Kelly said, you can face off the dome/radius part of the combo and just glue a tip to it.
 
that doesn't look like g10....usually g10 is a translucent greenish color or black. that pic looks like a tan canvas phenolic.
 
Ok, so, let me clarify. Can this shaft be changed around with a new tip where it will NOT put the white streaks on the cloth? if so, i'm looking for a cuemaker to help me out here.....;)

Driving the tip down into the cloth during the break will leave that white streak, it doesn't matter what kind of tip/ferrule you have.

Ditto. And if a CM/CR replaces that tip for you and you rip the cloth on the table by driving the cuetip into it, it won't be the CM/CR's fault, but I fear that won't be your opinion of the situation.

I don't think DrCue teaches that technique.

I have had quite a few break cues over the years. different cues, different shafts, different tips, production, custom, etc. and this one is the ONLY one that puts the white streak on the cloth.

There has to be something different about it.
