Can we stop the coin flip argument. The better players almost always come out on top

This was a prelude to the WPA 9 ball final but it still plays as part there.

Regardless of what side opf the fence you are on i Keep hearing:

"its bar table 9 ball anyone can win"
"its open after the break 8 ball its coin toss"
"its winner break its a joke, I can win on my day"
and the real classic its (ball might as well flip[ quarters *referring to the world 9 ball final

c'mon everyone are you serious? have you ever played?

few examples:
I play in weekly 9 ball tournaments 8 foot table bucket pockets race to 3 winners and 2 losers. guess who wins?? the same 3 guys typically out of around 24-30

I used to play bar table 8 ball bar tournament race to 1 and guess who typically won? the better players- weird eh?

so as to state above : 9 ball bar table, SVB has won reguarly and as far as I know the same guys are in and around the mix, shaw, woodward, corey, ignacio, orcullo when they played. the better on form players

The Masters winner break: i do not see any of the weaker players winning that.
KO is world 10 ball champion arguably best in world svb is on from best in world is it a surprise they were in the final??

fact is regardless format or equipment the better players find a way to win and get to the latter stages

Why are you acknowledging the trolls and idiots on here? Now you're letting them know that what they're doing is working.
 
Actionplayer, in a broader sense you are right. I play in a little local tournament on 9 foot
GS's every Friday night. Race to two. One game 8 ball one game 9 ball loser breaks. Double elimination. Most times the better players take it all but every once in a while someone else sneaks in because in a short race anything can happen. I have seen a C player send an A player over to the losers bracket because of the short race but all in all, the cream does rise to the top.
 
Hey, wait. Ko won both the world 10-ball AND the world 9-ball, in the same year, against killer fields. PLUS he's got a pretty solid track record. But ignore all that, let's just talk about his rolls and his undeserved win.
 
right...i dont get these people

where are they when the US bar table or white dimaond or smokin aces events are on???

if its so easy then how come I never see them win?

I play pretty sport but got my ass handed to me from bustamante (joven) and ignacio at at hardtimes,

doesnt matter the format they are better players
and yes they will beat me the majority of the time
 
Luck is luck, it's to be expected, but imo, any game that can actually be won by accident should not be a game that decides who a " world champion" is.

There is a subtle difference between

"better players find a way to win" and "it is always better players that win.

Fact is either SVB or KO could have failed to make the elimination stage or gotten knocked out first round like Feijen or Chua. It is not that better players will get to the late stages; it is instead that the late stages will be populated by elite players.

Every single professional sport in history had luck as a factor. There is no way luck can be eliminated.
 
It's actually a pretty good point. Better players win, whatever the circumstance. I reckon I'd lose the coin toss 90% of the time to a good player.
 
Luck is built into the game. It happens. Thus is life.
Luck is a part if pool....I've learned to live wih it, you should try it too.

ps...what game can you play with all luck removed? Not possible.
