Can you carry-on a shaft on a plane?

I know this subject has been beaten to death but I haven't seen a comment on this. Could you carry just your shafts onto the plane and check the butts? Shafts are the most likely to get damaged and I think it may be beneficial. Especially for people who have high end shafts such as predator or OB-1, or a pricey custom shaft. Any thoughts?

Go to your nearest store and pick up some thin small bubble wrap. Bubble wrape all pieces together and put them in your big luggage case. Also remove all other items in your case and put them in your suitcase. You can carry on your cuecase if its empty. That's how I did it on the way to and back from BCA in Vegas. On the way back a guy screening the case thought there was something wierd in the case cause the tubes of my Instroke showed up odd, but he opened it and saw nothing there.

Great idea, UWPG1! I never thought of that. ~Doc

They Make AIRLINE CASES. I reccomend that if you have invested the money in nice cues or just want to protect your favorite playing stick. Ill tell you one thing. The Airline doesnt care what you paid, and they sure aren't going to replace your cue because you said JOE Minimum Wage ruined it loading it on the plane. By the right case. Or make One!!!

Planes

Last year, one of my teammates had a large duffel bag. Both of us put our full cases in there and had no problems. We tried to spread our cues between a few bags for all of our teammates just in case the worst case scenario happened. Another creative idea I heard is to leave your cues in their cases and put them in a softball bag.

I do not understand the ways of the TSA, but aren't they supposed to be, at least attempting, to protect the passengers from some terrorist using a "thing" as a weapon and taking over a plane and crashing it into something big? So, isn't a cue case a potential weapon?...maybe even better than a cue?...or a boxcutter?
