Can you top my bad luck???

This is the most retarded thread I Have seen on AZB so far.

Billiards is a beautiful game, that is being ruined by people who blame everything else but themselves for their mistakes.
"Oh, my tip sucks, I can't get any spin off it."
"The table is running slow, and the balls just wont roll my way!"
"I don't like this table, the lighting casts shadows that put me off"
"That's just my luck"
"You just wont leave me a good position"

Doesn't mater if you missed because of your luck, or you are literally dying. If you lose at the table, stop being a whiny little b****, and shut your mouth. No one wants to hear it.

TL: DR Whether it is because of luck or not, stfu about it, don't be a douche, and just put some practice into the shots you missed.

Why then do other players & people out of the crowd tell me I'm the best player they have ever seen? I couldn't get out of the pool hall last night with my son without being stopped numerous times, having to shake hands & listen to them saying how sorry they were about my bad luck. Nice folks & I appreciate their kindness.

If there is no such thing as luck then explain this. In Florida a Plantation woman has won at least $600 more than 240 times in the past 19 years, according to a Sun Sentinel analysis of individual Florida Lottery winnings dating to 1993. A Hollywood man won $5,000 at least 52 times last year. The winningest player for 2011, a resident of Pasco County, cashed 100 Play 4 tickets for a total of $500,000.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Richard Lustig has hit it big several times. "One win was $842,000 and change," said Lustig. He's won 7 grand prizes in the Florida Lottery to be exact. "Win number 7 was 90 something thousand."

BISHOP, Texas - The odds that Joan Ginther would hit four Texas Lottery jackpots for a combined nearly $21 million are astronomical. Mathematicians say the chances are as slim as 1 in 18 septillion - that's 18 and 24 zeros.

There was a girl from my neighborhood who married & came back for a visit. Her husband had already won the lottery 3 times, one time for over $300,000. She described her husband as 'lucky'.

Luck exists, both good & bad.

I am not trying to debate if luck is something that exists. My point was that you shit the bed and lost. You didn't scratch because of bad luck. You scratched because you played a bad shot. Don't hide behind the "luck" factor. Man up and figure out what you need to do better next time.

Hear Hear!

There is no such thing as luck, only outliers in our statistical world. A man who wins the lottery twice plays a lot of lottery, probably used the first winnings to bankroll his next attempt. Opponent getting nine in on the break is statistically low, but not luck, good for him or bad for you. Playing a bad shot increases the chances of bad results.

I watched a guy with a nice shot try playing a bad combo for the nine, and complain about how his opponent gets easy combos. He left it for him. Well, there was a not too difficult run out option instead. Bad luck.

I'm sorry you're frustrated.

Why were you shooting a "hard" bank on the 7 with the match on the line? Did you get out of line, or did your opponent turn-over the table?

If I'm truly the better player, I'm playing safe or some kind of two-way shot. Perhaps you could find benefit in rethinking your approach toward shot selection.

At the amateur level, I believe an above-average thinker with average physical ability has the edge over above-average physical ability with average thinking.

Best of luck

Sure luck is part of the game... but it sounds like you lose the cb... from the stories you told, you're taking some kind of risk but not totally assessing the situation for possible scratches... then you're putting off the blame on luck and not yourself...

If the cue ball had hit a boulder and scratched, then that's more likely called bad luck...

Quit seeing it that way, and plan your leaves better. There is no way you actually have consistent bad luck over time that is any worse than someone else's that isn't due to your playing style. Your explanation of bad luck itself referred to problems that you could have controlled some.

rolls do NOT go both ways...

playing in a local tournament last night, I easily win my first match. Playing my second match, race to 4, the guy wins the flip, breaks in the 9. My break, the guy can't even rack the balls fairly, we agree to rack your own but now the 9 wont count on break. I break, make 2 balls, have no clear shot on the one even though I squatted the CB in center of table. I push out to a two rail kick, the guy passes it back to me. I execute the kick perfectly and he has no shot. He tries a one-rail kick that cant be done; but hits it a warp 9 and so badly that the CB travels 5 rails to kiss the one and carom in another ball. Meanwhile, the one drifts down perfectly in front of the 9 for a no-brainer combo. So, I'm now down 2-0, he breaks dry, and I have no shot on the 1 again. I execute a thin cut to separate the balls, and he can see the one but has no pocket. Warp 9 again, double kiss on the one, CB flies around and freezes to the back of the 7, and the 1-9 lines up again. Ive got no way to kick the one or move the 9 without fouling. I decide to move the 9 out of harms way, and get a good result locking the 9 up to the 6 ball close to the rail about halfway between the corner and side pockets. Undaunted, he slams the one into the 6/9, and the nine flies in the opposite corner after caroming off a couple other balls. 3-0 and my break, make a ball again, shot on the one, but the 2 has no pocket. I shoot to a safety, once again execute a well-played safe, leaving only a difficult 2 rail kick. He kicks it in, has no shot on the 3, but warp 9 never fails, makes another ball. Next shot misses the 3 horribly, but CB bounces off the 7 and make the 9. Four games won in just 8 strokes...Good times!!

I'm a big believer in energy. If its already in your mind that bad luck
is lurking, then you cant be surprised when it shows its presence cause
you brought it with you. Leave it at home before you leave, you'll see
a change. Goodluck
