Car Wax Or Ball Polish

anybody ever just use plain car wax to polish/clean your balls? is there any negative effects regular wax can have on the balls? especially the cue ball? will it pick up chalk dust more? get blue spots more? stay dirty more and longer? cause more miscues?

Hi there :)

Use car body polish, with a little hot water, into a bucket with sponges cut to shape at the bottom of the bucket, and use a car body poilsher/buffer, doing this, about twice a week, wiping them dry with a clean towel will keep a set of balls in brand new condition for a long time and the good thing is, when done properly, there are no problems about chalk sticking to the cb any more, than a regular brand new set would, and also, this will lessen the wear on the cloth of your table(s) :)

If you have a Ballstar Polishing machine and fluid, then go with that, but if you want a good ball polishing machine, on a low budget, then what I mentioned above, is the way to go :)

I used Pledge for years and it works well with little effort.

However, now its a no brainer. Use Super Aramith ball cleaner. Bob Jewett will tell you its not wax -- and he is right ! Whatever it is, it is as good as it gets. I clean mine about every 8 hours of play time and that seems to work fine.

if at contact the cue ball is sliding, then 90 degrees...............

Everyone to their own liking of course, but I'd not use the pledge because it tends to leave a slippery filmy feel to me.

IMO without purchasing some specialty thing, go to a store like Pep Boys and look for motorcycle plastic windshield cleaner and polish.

Most any brand would be fine. Its designed especially for the plastic type windshields to prevent film. Works great with a homemade ball polisher I put together using a taping compound bucket and a Royobi 10" orbital auto polisher and some old carpet.

Brilliainize. It's the best product for polishing balls. Google it.
