Are you absolutely certain it didnt say dont use OVER 75%? Seems odd that water will have any effect on carbon fiber.I am not sure what the alcohol % is on the eye glass wipes, I know that the Cuetec CF shafts come with a warning that the alcohol % used to wipe down their CF shafts needs to be at a 75% or higher alcohol content. I only use 91% on my wood shafts as long ago cue makers warned against rubbing water into wood shafts on a regular basis- makes sense- the content of wipes or bottled rubbing alcohol that is not alcohol is water.
If Cuetec is stating 75% or higher alcohol content is required; then there must be some detrimental effect that results from too much water; even on a CF shaft. Some of these lens wipes are only 30% alcohol, so the rest of that moisture in the wipe is water. I would check the alcohol % of any wipe used for CF and make sure it is at least 75% and for wood I would not go below 91%.
Cuetec does produce alcohol wipes for their CF shafts- in case the other brands prove to be too high in water content.
Yes I AM absolutely sure Cuetec says MINIMUM 75% alcohol - there MUST be a reason for that- they don't just make up numbers. and , as Bob is saying above- Predator recommends 90+% then BOTH companies are in sync that too much water content is an issue for their CF shafts. Are you absolutely certain it didnt say dont use OVER 75%? If water has a detrimental effect on carbon fiber shafts, I stick with wood! Having a hard time believing water could do damage to CF. 70% alcohol is recommended.....but why?Yes I AM absolutely sure Cuetec says MINIMUM 75% alcohol - there MUST be a reason for that- they don't just make up numbers. and , as Bob is saying above- Predator recommends 90+% then BOTH companies are in sync that too much water content is an issue for their CF shafts.
By far the worst cf shaft i've hit. Has a finish like an old fiberglass coated Cuetec. Why they went this route is beyond me.First attempt.....for sure follow manufacturers recommendations....
Defy carbon fiber shafts have a special finish that contains a slip agent. This helps keep the shaft slick and resists chalk, dirt, and hand oils from soiling the shaft. For peak performance, you may periodically clean the shaft by wiping it down using only water on a lightly damp soft cloth.
Do whatever lets you sleep at night. I know about 15 people that own cf shafts. All still look brand new and not one user ever used a 'maker approved' wipe. Plain-jane eyeglass wipes clean them and evaporate very quickly. BTW, cf cue/shaft make BeCue recommends water and mild soap on their shafts, no alcohol. Becue recommends using THEIR wipes fo shaft cleaning. No mention of composition.....Do whatever lets you sleep at night. I know about 15 people that own cf shafts. They've updated their site then. Haven't been on it in a while. I only know one BeCue owner and all he's ever used is drug-store house brand lens wipes. Shaft is 3-4yrs old and still looks brand new.Becue recommends using THEIR wipes fo shaft cleaning. No mention of composition.....
Shaft cleaning
For the daily cleaning of the becue shafts it is recommended to use Becue WIPES.
The Butts are recommended to be cleaned with soap and water........
Butt cleaning
For the daily cleaning of the Butt and every part of it, it is recommended to use a cloth simply soaked in water and neutral soap.
Avoid solvents, alcohol or any other aggressive product.

Can't argue with you - just quoting the manufacturers- maybe a way for them to sell their own wipes-Do whatever lets you sleep at night. I know about 15 people that own cf shafts.
