Carbon Fiber vs Maple experience, hmmm

So I wanted to try the cf experience and did so when I came back to pool after a break because of the pandemic. I have been playing with the Revo 12.4, stock tip, c4 technology butt. Cue hits and plays well and I've rather enjoyed it but don't think I'm playing as well as I did with custom cues/maple shafts as i have for years prior to this. Had some success and still head scratching moments over the last 7 months.

Because I had the itch for another custom I got a a nice full splice sneaky, maple shaft, med tip. Had it for a few days and already playing better with it. This is not new cue honeymoon. I'm just able to feel more free with this cue if that makes sense.

Any input on similar experiences? I still so love the cf shafts and ordered one for this cue but right now not sure it will get used...still haven't used it in a match and maybe competition will expose weaknesses going back to maple but so far I've been excited with what I've been able to do with maple in a short few days..so is this a case of not for me..or no need to change for sake of change

Just sharing my thoughts.
 
if you are used to maple shafts and new to carbon fiber low deflection
your worn broken in shoes (maple shaft) will feel better than the new shoe (carbon fiber) until you wear them long enough for them to feel comfortable

I only play with wood and no LD. This even happens with a maple to maple change. Switched shafts 2 weeks ago and still not used to it after about 25-30 hours of table time. I normally play a lot and have gotten used to other shaft. So 25-30 hours isn’t much percentage wise. Going from a 12.5mm pro tapered shaft with a 3/4” ferrule to an 11.75mm with a short straight taper and 1” ferrule is a big change. More aggressive is the best way I can describe the new one. And the 11.75mm is my normal player. Just needed a new shaft for past few months. It’s cut to same specs as old shaft, but feels brand new.
 
Hit a few CF shafts, they just seem dead to me. As far as the deflection goes, I don't juice the cue ball much, in fact I try to limit the cue ball travel as much as possible, so deflection isn't an issue, as I have, I guess, automatically adjusted to my maple shaft. I really like the tactile and sonic feedback of MH tip, ivory ferrule and maple shaft.

I just don't sight the ball as well with a black shaft as I do a maple one. I have both a Revo and a Cuetec, but for the past 3 months I've been shooting with a Predator Z-3 and shooting much better.
