CARBON SHAFT AND TALCUM POWDER

i sometimes think fondly of the times when talcum powder and cigarettes was accepted in pool rooms. because i used both myself. but much as with cigarettes, when you don't use it yourself, powder can be quite annoying
Don't think I've ever heard that analogy before, had you?

Good one.

Get outta here, with your peg leg and hook, greybeard.

soon carbon will be the norm, and maple, deflecting shafts will be the reason I am missing that leg... Sold it to buy 'vintage'... 'vintage' is in :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, played with a few friends cues, Predator, McDermott, Mezz... all felt off (in hit and against the hand), sounded off and were super stiff.Just not my preference. They certainly can take a beating though, and I guess that is one genuine selling point.

I now play with a CF shaft, and will occasionally wear a glove. Powder was a thing for wood shafts, but you hardly ever see it around where I play. You don't even see those big chalk things on the wall anymore either. I notice in the videos I've seen, powder is still big in the Phillipines. Always a little pile of it on a rail in the videos.
I guess I occasionally get a little perspiration on my hands and the cue doesn't feel like it slides as effortlessly on my fingers, so I put on the glove. Then again, sometimes when playing without the glove and falling a little behind, I'll put it on and delude myself into thinking that donning the glove is turning the page, and now I'll refocus and put that other stuff behind me. Hey, whatever works, right?

I don't use a glove but i have a towel in my bag. If my hands get sweaty i use the towel
I keep a small spray bottle of Cue Silk in my bag. A quick spray on the bridge hand is magic on the rare occasion I need something. I assume it's fine with CF as well, as there is nothing visibly left on your hand. (Obviously something is on your hand, you just can't see it)

I've only spent time with a carbon predator billiard shaft and was not a fan.

Dear all,

Any of you playing for a carbon fiber shaft without a glove and using talcum powder?
Are there any problems with that?

My hands sweat but I hate using a glove. So please do not write comments like "just get used to a glove" or "Just wash your hands more often".

Thank you in advance :).

Best regards,

Rafael

PS: I know that the manufactures often write "do not use talcum with a carbon fiber shaft"
Powder should be banned from all pool rooms.

Here is a great (and far better) alternative to baby power....

It's called Easy Slide. It was made for bowlers to put on the slide shoe. WONDERFUL stuff.

It is much finer and smoother then powder. Just a wipe on your cue shaft is more then enough. It takes very little. You never get enough on it to spread around on the cloth. You won't believe how much smoother it is then baby powder.

do you know the ingredients?
silicone?

I cant say yes or no, but since it's used on bowling slide shoes, I highly doubt it has silicone. I'll try to find out. I do know it's smoother then talc. And used sparingly, it has zero mess. Give it a try. I think you will highly rate it.
