The guy I bought my Frey from said all I had to do was occasionally clean it with a damp cloth then go over it with a Q-Wiz disk.

Is that actually all I'll have to do? I'd rather not get into a lot of cleaners or polish if its not really necessary - but I want to do whats right.

thanks

You can use some hand glaze on the butt end after lightly wiping it down with a lightly dampen rag. Use micro fibre towels. Then I would have the local repair guy clean the shaft when it is needed.

This is what I found for hand glaze? http://www.autogeek.net/3mimhanglaz.html

It says its for new auto paint, is that the same type you are suggesting?

Also just to clarify - do you mean use a slightly damp microfiber towel for the cleaning? or is the micro-fiber towel for the polishing after applying the hand glaze (or both)

Thanks a lot for the info

First, I would never put water on a cue, unless I'm taking out a dent. Seriously! Water is very agressive on exposeed wood without much cleaning help. I use:
Q clean about 1 per year to clean the shaft. It does usually require a drop of water on he cloth to hold it.
Qsmooth to smooth the shaft. About 2 x per year.
Qwax about monthly to polish and seal the shaft and butt. This should leave you a nice clean butt and shaft.

I would spend your cleaning energy cleaning your hands and maybe even look into a glove, if sweating is an issue.

Thanks
I have also read about burnishing the shaft with leather- do you think that is necessary? Or does the q-wax or q-smooth accomplish this?
