I posted this in the last thread about if you would change
your job to work in or around pool .So I was curious what is
out there .I am serious about this although I may get ribed
there are only a few things that have came through my life
that I had a real passion for ...pool being one . Don't think
I got what I need to be a pro ...I mean I am and continue
to learn more and grow into a really good player but not
like some of the greats . My skills lean more toward dealing
with people ...like maybe sales or promotions . I have ran
a small business of my own for about 11 years now and
it is getting kinda bleak .
So not to write a book but if anyone has a lead or an idea
that may get me into something pool related where I can
make enough money to live PLEASE let me know .As I posted
in my last post in the other thread .I am 37 years old ,in good health,
and sound mind .I do not drink or smoke and have a wide array of
skills.My back ground is in electronic service and repair (I want to
get away from any kind of repair work) I have a vast customer service
experience and good computer skills.
Oh and btw the reason I do not smoke or drink is not because I
am a snot or a do gooder .I have been in AA/NA (continuous)for
over 18 years now .I got clean when I was 20 and if I had not of
gotten turned around then God only knows...I think I would of died.
Just wanted to throw that out too cause I do have a passion for
helping others going through addiction problems .
Sorry to write a book but this was just on my mind ;)

In all seriousness - everyone wants to do what they love. If you can find that than no matter what it pays you are on your way to happiness.

He says being in technical /service fields inhibit
ones writting skills :D
 
Open up a pool hall.

And you don't need to be a pro to make the cash as a player, imo.

Learn how to make good cues yourself and you could be looking at some decent money.

whatever you decide to do, make sure you hire someone to do all of your business cards, flyers, shirts, website(s), etc... :)

I had an idea that I would like to change coin op tables into cash/credit card tables. I am sure you could create a business opportunity with your electronics back ground.

BTW: I have a B.S. from ITT Tech for electronics and my first name is Mathew, with one "t".

I also thought it would be cool to have a user panel with service call button at each table that allows you to keep score of games (league scoresheets for example), view tournament brackets, order food/drinks, watch video instructions on pool, etc....
And maybe have cameras to record and purchase video of your practice or competition games/matches.

I just don't know if anyone would be interested in buying these types of gadgets.
 
I left a good paying job and now I am making a good percentage less, but I am in the pool industry and I would not trade it for anything.
I travel all over setting up tournaments and even run some of them.

Way to go 2l8 .Maybe I could ask around and get into something
like that hmmmm.....
