Karl Boyes vs Bigtruck??

Yes that's right, Karl Boyes was in Waco yesterday to play in the Shooter mid-level event. He was outed after his first match. They ran his name ahead of time, but MIS-spelled it!! Whoops.

Soooooo, I'm trying to get Karl to match up with our local top gun. Karl said he had drank too much. I thought Englishmen played better when they drink!

All we could get was a little 3 ball action. $2 a man!!

Karl came across a little abrasive in his interview on the IPT match with Tony Robles, but I found to be fun loving and pleasant to be around. Cool guy.

Ray

ps. We all lost out $2's :D

WTF!!! Looks like you are a league banger who thinks the better player should be punnished cause you can't take him...

What is wrong with a person playing good? You have to "catch" him cause he PLAYS TOO WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really dislike that mind set... The better player SHOULD win. I know... There are many threads about this mental weakness players like yourself have so no need to ramble any further...

I wasn't there...lol...I just heard about it...and it was a stated B level tournament only...in other words he lied to get in...you figure that one out sir..

Much debate

Hello CB!

You are correct, there have been numerous threads about tournaments in levels, handicapping etc. Bottom line is the mid-level events are very popular.

My thinking is that it gives mid-level players a venue to get in the pressure matches, semi finals and even the finals. Then they can go on and compete stronger in the Open events.

It's been working. I'm not really a fan of handicapping. I tried running one recently and it's just plain "mucho work" and the top players won it anyways. The leagues have been running in "levels" for many years and have produced many top players.

I agree with you, the top player should win, but they need someone to compete against. We must figure a way to grow more top players. Levels is proven to work.

Happy shooting!

He's young and very talented. He'll master the interview thing too. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him!

Tony Robles is also a very stand-up guy. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Tony at Amsterdam Billiards a few years ago. He helped me with my game. Great teacher!

Glad I got meet Karl. It's so easy to mis-judge someone by some random interview clips.
