It’s been nearly a decade since Carlo Biado ascended to the pinnacle of world pool. In 2017, the Filipino star captured the World Pool Championship, etching his name into the sport’s history books and delivering a moment of pride for an entire nation. A year later, he came agonisingly close to defending the title, reaching the final once again. Since then, while the trophy has remained just out of reach, Biado’s fire has never faded. “To me, the World Pool Championship is everything,” Biado says. “It was always my dream—not just to play in it, but to win it. It's hard not to root for Carlo. He is committed to excellence and very passionate about the game. Who will ever forget the tears he shed after winning the US Open 9-ball? It would be a great story if he wins another World 9ball Championship.

First saw the article on WNT. Seems like it is starting to dabble in original content. Wonder if they are recruiting Billiards Digest ...

Going to be hard for Biado to win another imo. He is 41 and I think I see signs of slippage in parts of his game. A good draw will help.

Really hard to predict who will win. So much pressure given the money at stake. SVB talked about it on Doggin It recently. He suggested he had never seen anything like it.

Final 8 last year were:

Dang Jin Hu
Johann Chua
Jeffrey Ignacio
Eklent Kaci
Wojciech Szewczyk
Wiktor Zielinski
Anton Raga
Fedor Gorst

Chua vs Kaci, and Szewczyk vs Gorst, in the semis. Then Gorst beating Kaci in a superb final, 15-14.

Btw, Biado lost his first two matches to Marco Teutscher and Dang Jin Hu to get sent home early. Tough one-two there.
