Carom for kids

Any products out there that include table obstacles and other fun things? Thinking of something like mini-golf course idea for when family visits, for those who aren't interested in carom itself.

I think straight rail would be worth a try if the players have ever held a cue before. Maybe pin billiards.

kids quickly understand the 5 pins / 5 birilli game , and they quickly like it !! do not underestimate the fun of this game for the absolute beginners, and especially for the kids.

a red little pin and 4 little white pin in addition of the balls, they like that . and the rules are simple, in fact...

because of the obstacles/pins which are goals too , and because of the 1 inning/shot per player , that's a very good game to initiate absolute beginners. pins falling, that's a visual effect , and the goal is quickly learned. everybody has his chance, they will make oir loose points very often, and that's great for kids : everybosy wins ...
3 balls, carom, is quickly boring for kids.

i've tried this as iniation game for 8-12 years, with much better results -as interest to the game- than the asian 4 balls or our 3 balls straight rail carom game..

at 8 years they are a bit small , 9 and > is better, but they love the 5 pins fight...

Like a golf course, you can play "football" - european soccer- with 2 box making the goals on the small cushions , and a big obstacle in the middle of the table, like a bag, a book, a couple of balls boxes.
You have to put your ball in the adverse goal, and that's it...

but try 5 pins first !!!!! the accessories needed are simple (5 small pins) , and a carom ball set.

How Old?

I've had mine focusing on just throwing balls at other balls by hand. No cues, just learning how the balls rebound and seeing action off the rails and other balls.

I can already tell that the lines and the patterns are starting to 'burn in' to the brain ...

If your kids in question are older, that obviously won't be as fun ...
