carom pool

saw this in the carom section
neat game to teach you where the cue ball is going

It's a good game and could help, but remember, it doesn't help you in trying to practice position play. Position play refers to bringing the cue ball to a halt at a particular place on the table.

Hi Fran,

When I did the carom thing way back in 'the day' I did it in a manner that I only wanted to touch the second ball & not go far from it if at all.

Also, as I'm sure you know, it is most of the time more important to be on the correct side of a line rather than to be in a specific spot.

That said there certainly ARE those times when one needs to be ONLY in a certain spot.

Also, I'd like to just say, "You da Man".

That's a compliment. I wish you would find more to post about to add your insights for all of us that could benefit.

Best Wishes for You & Yours.

roll-up

Try it but you may find it a bit frustrating. Let us know what you think.

I teach using "roll-up carom" as a practice exercise, which solves the position issue you mentioned before. You want to touch the second OB, but as gently as possible. When you get good at straight carom, you then progress to one rail, two, etc.
