Carpet under pool table?

I need to find some carpet to put down under a bar table to make it tolerable on my feet (garage concrete) and back.

Any thoughts on a type of company (carpet, flooring, etc), and/or a type of carpet to absorb a lot of that pain. I've tried those stress pads, and they didn't work.
Table is 3.5x7 so how many feet do you think I would need, extra 2 feet each side of the table?

Thanks everyone.

You need 5ft around the table for a cue so I'd say 3ft around for carpet.

If you want to maximize your comfort then do pad and carpet both. Our basement floor is concrete. Get a good quality pad and a thick pile carpet. The carpet alone will offer some cushion but the combination of pad and carpet will give you the most cushion.

Be advised that you will probably need to relevel the table after a few months once the tables weight settles into the carpet and pad.

As for size I'd try for 5-6 feet of carpet and pad on all sides if your room will support it. Consider the space to use a standard 58" cue on a shot where the cueball is locked on the rail. Set these shots up and measure where your feet would be to make sure of your spacing and size.

Might do a little more looking at the stress pads. Harbor fright pads have gotten thinner and thinner and lower quality. However you can get better quality and up to at least an inch thick. I would put the stress padding even if I put carpet over it or find something used for commercial buildings. There is going to be a lot of traffic in a narrow area of your padding of any kind so the cheap stuff isn't going to last long.

I agree with others that two feet around the table will just be an annoyance. If you have room for four feet that is probably closer to ideal.

I hear you. I am going with 8 lb pad and 100 density carpet. Best I have seen. I will let you know how it goes. Installed April 7th. That doesn't work, going to add some super thick rubber mats recommended on here. Good luck. Brian

I had a Perian rug under my 8-footer for a decade. The rug was on the short side and hung out about 1 foot on the sides and less than 6" on the ends.

When the table comes out of storage it will have a larger rug under it so most shots have your feet on the rug and not on the floor. This is (absolutely) more to clean, but nicer to play on and walk around.

In my garage, I did 2'x2' carpet tiles from home depot. There's no padding on them and they wreck my knees unless I wear shoes.
