Can anyone give me some comments on chad carter cue. He is quite a new cue maker and is not that popular and i have not much information on how his cue plays like and the quality of his cue.

Can anyone who play or own his cues can kindly post some comments for me to consider before ordering a cue from him thanks!

Chad is a good friend of mine and does all of my local repair work. I have had 3 of his cues. They hit very solid and remind me in style and hit to Southwest cues. Relatively basic cues. No frills. He is mainly concerned with playabilty before he starts to do anything fancier. I think to get a nice 6 or 8 point cue with veneers and 2 shafts runs about $800. He also uses very nice exotic woods (ex: he uses alot of very attractive amboyna burl) Very nice guy and easy to work with.

From the 1 response i get, i suppose carter cue is really low in profile. But i still dont want to write off this cue maker. So is there anymore az members who own a carter cue or play with one before that can give me some comments on his cues thanks.

i bought one off Ebay that was terrible.maybe it was one of his early cues or a bad day at the office,b/c i have seen other people say they are good.the one i had was junk.4 pointer and i sold it for $200 and felt guilty.

So can you tell me what is so bad about his cue? The finishing, hit or what other things? Thanks

Carter cue

I picked up a carter a little over a yr ago . I was playing with a chris nitti and thought it played wonderful it has been retired to the case since i purchased this chad carter . I have owned over 75 cues in my 18 yrs of playing . I have only owned this one carter its hard to judge a cue maker on one cue but if had to use one word to desribe mine it would be forgiving i simply pocket balls better . Mine is a very simple ebony cue plain jane .

If you look at the gallery, it seems that some of the inlays are a bit sloppy and points are noticeably uneven circa 2007.

Shafts appear to have a small number of growth rings.

His latest cues look quite clean though, and all the pictures were taken very close up.

Q

I have a Carter SP. It is made from a nice piece of bacote with an ivorine joint and butt cap. The cue plays solid and the workmanship is great!

I've had one in the past that I got off Azb. it was a curly maple plain Jane with two shafts. my experience with that cue was good. everything was fine with the cue. it had a firm hit. I just wasn't too fond of the radial pin back then. sold it to my friend who still has it til this day.

the guy I bought it from said that the customer service is awesome. there was some problem with a prior shaft and Chad fixed it AND refinished the cue for free!
