Seller says it is a Schon, I think it is a Kelli. What say you?

The Schons were a little bigger than a Fellini and the Kellis were a little smaller. You can tell this one is smaller because they all used the same size lock and comparison is easy.

I don't have a Schon case yet.

I have a Kelli. NOS I the original plastic sleeve.

AFAIK some rivets vary. Makers changed rivets according to the thickness of the leather apparently.

Schon used a smaller head rivet, here is an example. The size of the head didn't denote the length of the rivet. Also compare the flat end of a known Schon to the original photo.

I understand. The latch kit came with those rivets. But if the material was too thick the maker needed different rivets.

Rivet head sizes vary. There is no standard.

Case makers bought the locks and rivets separately, and the locks never varied because they were manufactured by only one company.
Rivets, on the other hand, could be sourced from different makers. Again, the length of the rivet that fits the lock does not change the head size or diameter.

The rivets used tell a story that many overlook.
 
The case at auction is definitely a Kelli. This collection I am selling, the buyer bought many 1 x 2 tube cases, and there are plenty he got from dealers in the "know", that flat out did not know. I probably have counted 6 or so cases, that were all "Fellinis" that were Schons and Kellis and cues that were way out in left field ID wise.

Yes, the locks were only from one manufacturer. And you could get the rivets from them too. AFAIK, they generally sold one style of rivet with them by default...but of course you could order and use whatever you wanted, even from another source.

I have seen variations in rivets among individual case makers, so I don't consider it reliable to identify cases. I have even seen different rivets used on the lock vs the latch. Most of the time they do seem consistent, but not 100%.

At any rate, I am sitting here looking at my own Kelli case that was NOS in the plastic, and I do believe the case posted is a Kelli.
