The red did pop on the veneer work. I'm going to try out the grain filler. That does look good. I almost stopped by on the way back from Florida. Wish I would have now.

Anyone...anywhere, looking to have table restoration work done like this, needs to send your rails straight to Mark. I know Mark personally, and this table is not a one off table, this is what Mark does to all the tables he works on if the owners want him to, besides rebuilding the sub-rails as well.
There are others around the country that can restore the finish of rails to perfection like Mark does, but I guarantee you, not one of them can make the table look and PLAY as well as Mark can. Being able to refinish a set of rails to perfection has nothing to do with making the rails PLAY to perfection as well, it's TWO separate things, and Mark does them both...to "Perfection"
The difference between Mark and myself, is that I COULD do the exact same thing Mark is doing, but I don't have the passion, nor the shop to take on the projects he does, but mostly...I just don't have the desire to dedicate my time to do this kind of work anymore. But, I feel relieved that I know Mark does, because when I get the requests to work on tables like these...I'm just going to refer the work to Mark, because I know I won't be let down in the long run. Mark and I do the same kind of work when it comes to making tables play right, so that's where I draw the line in the sand....he can have ALL the refinish jobs in the world...I"m out of that line of work....LOL I have my 24' cargo/shop trailer now, so I'm in the process of setting it up as a mobile workshop so I can work on Diamond tables all across the country, changing them into the new Blue label design as requested, and tightening up the pockets to ProCut...THAT'S what I have a passion for doing, and more than likely will be doing until I'm to old to renew my drivers license anymore...LOL
Mark, you're the BEST, and like a younger brother to me!
THIS IS SO PERSONNAL
WHEN YOUR SETUP IS FINALLY COMPLETE , YOU'RE GOING TO WANT IT ALL TO YOURSELF
IF THERE'S SO MUCH AS A WHISPER IN THE SAME ROOM IT WOULD BE UPSETTING
I WOULD'NT BE SURPRISED IF YOU BUILT AN UNDERGROUND BUNKER TO HOUSE YOUR NEW VINTAGE MASTERPIECE
THAT BEAUTIFUL CRISP, CLEAN, VELVET LIKE CLOTH and THAT GREAT COOL SLATE BENEATH IT
OH YES, NO ONE DARE TOUCH IT
MAYBE A COUPLE OF PITBULLS AT THE GATEWAY
Great job! Nice looking finish on your rails. My Centennial will be recovered shortly. I've always gone with Simonis Green 860 but after seeing a couple of your Centennials done in Tournament Blue I'm tempted to go that way.
Do you use Simonis 860 or Simonis 860R?
The rails play well. I had the rubber replaced and the rails refinished 10 years ago. The finish has held up pretty well but I wish it had been a bit tougher. I am having a local cuemaker work on the foot rail right now. If it doesn't get fixed to my satisfaction I will contact you re: the possibility of shipping all of the rails to you. Although the cushion nose height seems right and balls bank well I've never been real happy with the pocket openings and I may need to talk to you about correcting that as well.
