I bought my first table from Mark and one of his handmade lights
When he and a helper arrived at my house,he discovered an
unusual condition in the ceiling
to get a long story to the point,Mark took an entire day out of his schedule
to get special bars and wires etc just to hang my table light
He put more time into hanging my light than most people
spend setting up a table
Mark is somewhat of a perfectionist, his attention to detail
and sense of responsibility is something that you might not
truly appreciate until its your table
If you have ever had your heart set on something that is truly important to you
only to be disappointed to have one detail or another go wrong
you might not see or understand why Mark charges more for his masterpieces
When I realized that he might have several weeks of 6o hrs each
going into the design, execution and finish of the tables,I was shocked
I guess I thought these things took care of them selves,I was
wrong
I was so impressed that when he quoted me the price of $25000
I was almost ashamed to ask if he would take less.Only years of training and
practicing negotiating kept me from saying ok the first time
I admit,I took a while to justify the price, but when my wife, who is as
tight with a dollar as anyone i ever met said,"Quit worrying, you oughta be ashamed
look at the hours the guy spends, remember ever time you got a table that wasn't right,
this is the 10th table you have had in 8 years.Get it perfect the first time and save us both the aggravation
So ,for the first time in my life,i decided to get the best, even if it cost more than
the ones that look the same to the guy that doesn't know.
When Mark asked if i wanted "Brunswick "on the light, new table light,i said
"No" i I want it to say "Mark Gregory"
He said,"who will even know who I am?"
I said,"I will know, and so will the rest of the guys in' the know
