Center of the Ball/ Center of the Pocket

This works. It's basically the same as the Back of the Ball method which is when you draw a line from the pocket through the object ball's center and that's where you put the cue ball.

The only problem with this is that some people can't hold onto that point visually.

Who is going to argue that shooting the object ball along a line to the pocket isn't going to work?

The problem is shooting the cue ball to that point. If pool was that easy then we would all be world beaters and Dippy Dave would the one running 18s while Gabe would have to spot him 150:18 in one hole.

The center of the object ball to the center of the pocket is a constant, the center of the pocket opening rotates but common sense tells you where the center of the opening is, I don't care how you line up or look at, it's the same every fracking shot!

You guy's can keep driving balls to the rail or shoot it simple, english throws the object ball right or left, rotates the object ball forward or reverse, Get it or Forget it, thats up to you!

i like to go center of object ball to slightly left of center in the pocket as this helps compensate for my bad eye.

I had an epiphany when I found that if I got behind the shot and bent down with my eyes just above the table I could see the exact center of the object ball by imagining it lined up with the centered opening. Then I placed an imaginary ball behind the OB and found the absolute sighting line and contact point. I thought I had struck gold.

A day or so later I was watching Johnny Archer in a match on the internet and he used the very same sighting method. I recognized it because that is what I had been doing.

Nothing like having an idea confirmed by a pro. And now Catpool9’s comment confirms that this is the way (for me at any rate) to play pool.

I think it is a little known "secret" of playing that one needs to learn to know where front dead center of the cue ball is in order to use this reference point when aiming at the contact point.

Is this just a way of saying CTE, etc is hogwash??? If so, honestly, I'm glad you feel that way. I'm glad you don't know what I do.
