Saturday Jan 23rd, we will hold our first ever Central Carolina 9 Ball Classic.

This tournament is open to Amateurs only. Thanks to Southeast Tech Force, we will be adding $1,500 to this tournament and will have a $1,500 guaranteed 1st place prize no matter how many players show.

The entry fee will be $40 which will go to pay 2nd place through ???? (depending on the size of the field)

The races will be to 9 except for the final match which will be to 11.

We will use Texas Express rules including 3 fouls.

The Maximum field will be 64 players and we will accept pre-registrations.

This is a non-handicapped, single elimination event.

Below is a copy of the flyer. Since we don't have a lot of time to promote this event, please feel free to copy and print this flyer to help maximize the field and payouts. 100% of the entry fees will go to the players, there is no greens fees.

Bumping this event.

Remember its Next Saturday (1/23).

This is a great player tournament. There is $1,500 going in and nothing coming out except payoff to the players. If you're tired of entry fees and added monies going into the pockets of the Tournament Directors or the Pool Room Owners, you need to support this event.

$1,000 is being added by Southeast Tech Force, and we are adding the other $500. 100% of the entry fees will go into the pot and out to the players.

Let's make this one big. It will encourage other rooms to do the same. I would like to fill the field of 64.

If you're afraid to travel in fear of not getting a spot, we are accepting pre-registrations. Also the $1,500 add and 1st place guarantee is unconditional. Even if only 2 players showed up, we would pay the winner $1,500 and the loser would get $80.

See you Saturday!!

I will be there Don and I wish to say in advance thanks for holding a great tournament. Nice quick and painless format with a great payout!! Just a bit curious as to who Southest Tech Force is and what they do and why they decided to give to poolplayers. Most players don't care where the money comes from but it would be nice to give them some advertisement and credit for giving to the sport.

Many thanks to Don and Southest Tech Force,

Eddie Little

the sponsor

Southeast Tech Force is owned by a everyday regular at the bar, Mike Orelle. He started coming to the bar ofcourse for his love of alcohol but then also became fascinated with the game of pool. After he found out how little even the tours paid out he decided to do something for the players that he see work so hard practicing for everyday. He's a great guy that has a love for the game and loves to watch good pool. The company itself I think does computer programming for big companies.

Results of the first Central Carolina 9 Ball Classic

We had a great turnout for the first ever Central Carolina 9 Ball Classic. 51 players entered the event, many local but many from out of state, all seeking the promised $1,500 minimum 1st prize. It drew a strong field of players including, BJ Ussery, Scott Lewis, Tony Morrison, Eddie Little, Derek Leonard, Jeff Pruitt, and many more.

This was a one day single elimination event with a race to 9 in all but the final which had a race to 11. The tournament started at 2:00 EST and ended just before midnight.

Eddie Little out lasted BJ Ussery in the finals to take home the 1st place prize, a total of $2,000 (purse plus auction). BJ walked away with $1,000 total prize money for 2nd place.

Below are the results:

In the quarter finals (Losers won $110 each):

• BJ Ussery defeated Bobby Strandburg 9 to 2

In the finals (BJ earned $1,000 total and Eddie won $2,000 total):
• Eddie Little defeated BJ Ussery 11 to 9

Sponsoring this event was:

• Southeast Tech Fore (Mike Orrell) $1,000 towards purse
• Gate City Billiards Club (Don Liebes) $500 towards purse
• Sign Language (Tommy Lyles) provided t-shirts for all of the participants

Thanks!!!

I never really expected to win this event, however with luck on my side, I got there. It was a really great event (Not just cause I won), but well ran and I applaud those who added the money. I'm only sorry that I didn't get to personally thank Mike Orelle, as I didn't til later realize that he was one of the guys sitting next to the final table who congratulated me afterwards.

Don Liebes is one of those owners who really loves the game and does things to support the game by having tour events such as DMIRO, CSI qualifiers, Jacoby, and an upcoming GSBT event. He also caters to leagues, and has offered to carry some Yackley Custom Cues to help out an up and coming cue maker that made the cues I play with.

Thanks again, and I hope to play many more events at Gate City in the future!!
