CFM needs for HVLP gun?

I want to buy a gun for spraying Enduro. I am thinking about the(Sharpe) Finex Mini but want to make sure my compresser will handle it.

My compressor(Senco dual tank) says:
7.7CFM displacement but it also says 4.1 CFM at 100psi ?

The guns technical specs say:
Fluid Tips: 0.6mm, 0.8 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.4 mm
Air Consumption (cfm): 7.0 SCFM
Max Inlet HVLP psi: 29 psi (2.0 bar, 200 kPa)

Help?

P.S. 1.3mm tip sound about right?

Thanks- and Merry Christmas-Jeff

The compressor you have is more than adequate.
I can't help you on tip size as I don't shoot Enduro.
Comparing Enduro to auto-clear is apples to oranges.
Start at 1mm and go from there.

Enduro

I am shooting enduro through a .8mm tip at 30psi.
have also used the 1.3mm at 35 psi.
The only reason I switched is because my .8mm gun is much better quality.

So. Having sprayed both sizes do you prefer the smaller tip or bigger tip. If u had to go out today and buy one. What would it be.

I have a 1.0 mm, but am thinking of getting a better spray gun. Any suggestions?

Most consider the Sata Mini 4 about the best especially when it comes to cleaning but they are pricey. I run my gun with about 30 lbs. pressure to the gun but 9 lbs at the nozzle. I also have a 1.0 nozzle but wish I had got a larger nozzle for the media I use. Nozzle size is determined by the thickness of the media not the size of the gun nor the amount of media being sprayed.

I use a Sata Minijet3 with a 1.0mm tip. After reading the recommendations for the finish I use, I bought a 1.3mm tip for the gun and used it twice. I don't like it. I go through too much finish and I can't control it. I think the 1mm tip is perfect for cues.

The tips for those guns aren't cheap. You can buy a couple cheap guns just for what I paid for the new tip.

One other time I read of your displeasure with the larger nozzle, Tony. I'm not sure just which finish that you are using but you know how the material that you are using flows. I am using PPG Shop Line JC661 and a med hardener. When spraying, with less than 10 lbs. head pressure, the media is drying before I can get it to flow out. I have to get the nozzle about 3 inch from the cue to get the flow that is needed for a smooth finish. I've got to spray a cue either tonight or tomorrow anyway so I may try lowering the head pressure to around 6 lbs. and see what occurs.

I'm still shooting an old Sata Minijet 2. 1.0 SR(spot repair) using
PPG DC3000. I have a Finex that I shoot lacquer with.
The 1.0 SR sucked when I tried to shoot UV, but it lays on the regular car coat like glass. The Finex is a nice gun, and hard to beat for the price.
If I shoot UV in the future I will definitely use it.
