Chalk for phenolic tips

I agree, I rarely chalked my phenolic tip when I owned one and I rarely chalk my break cue. Seems to help me focus on the center ball hit.
Interesting, I can def notice a difference when I have chalk on it. It feels like the tip grabs better on the break stoke...

Guess I messed up here. Got an intro level break/jump cue with phenolic tip a few months ago. Chalk did not seem to stay on well. Miscued several times on the break (embarrassing). So I tried roughing it up with a tip scuffer. Would like to try the White Diamond I have read so much about.

Seriously, accuracy is more important than power on the break. Instead of getting a new arrow. Uh get the Indian some training. I have never seen a need for anything other than center ball or perhaps just a touch below center on the break. My phenolic jump/break tip only gets chalk for a jump shot as sometimes a jump shot requires draw.

Yep, you can feel it when it's there, but when it's not there I hit a better center ball and never miscue. It's not like it's dry leather, I just rarely chalk when breaking.

Too keep from missing the rack altogether maybe?

For some players, it's not the tip that does this LOL
Had someone last night I was playing with break, totally missed the rack. Second attempt, not only did he miss the rack, he jumped the cueball to the table across from us, which had a match going on with 5 balls left. Cueball barely misses hitting the two people looking at a shot, lands on the table, goes around 4 rails before they managed to react to what what is happening and grab it. Did not touch a single ball on that table somehow.

Phenolic tips are so 5 years ago, damage cueballs, feel like you are hitting with a rock. Swap the thing out for a Samsara or White Diamond, no issues with chalk.
Unless you are hitting excessively hard, is this really the case? Pool balls are made of phenolic as well and outside of there already being something wrong, the impact should be about the same as the cueball hitting another pool ball on a hard hit right?

Impact of a break shot is way more than when balls collide. G10 is the real culprit when it comes to damaging cueballs. Most places i know of have banned both of them.

Correct, but take two identical pieces of material and smash them against each other 1000 times and see what happens.

Back in the early 90's when I was framing houses I bought a brand new Estwing hammer. Second day I had it I loaned it out and the other guy decided to use my hammer as a destruction tool and was taking his hammer and smashing the face of my hammer trying to use the claws to separate a bunch of stuff.

Came back 15 minutes later and handed me my hammer, the brand new waffle face was DESTROYED.

A material that is as hard, or harder, than another material will damage the softer material.

I really like masters sky blue, but it doesn't stick well on my phenolic tip. What do you guys recommend for chalk with phenolic tips?
Thanks
Brent
Not sure why you need chalk on a break tip....I’ve won tournaments without chalking my break cue...
...don’t need any if you’re hitting enter ball.
If you’re cut-breaking, your playing cue does a better job.
...and I don’t think phenolic tips are good anyway....best break tip I ever had was a 15mm Le Pro...
...set in a vice for a few days.
