Not sure if I should have posted this in the Wanted section or here...

Does anyone know where I can buy an antique style chalk hanger? Doesn't need to be an antique. Reproduction if great for my pocket book. Maybe someone can make me a set of wood chalk holders that I could fix eye hooks into and make my own? I don't want to use the rubber style ones, even though they would work I'm sure. I dislike plastic and rubber and am trying to keep with a more classic look in my game room.

I can buy or make all the other hardware.

Anyone have any ideas or know where to buy?

There's some nice leather one's out there in all shapes and colors if your interested in going in that direction!!

Sure I like leather. I wonder how I can make the leather ones hang? The weight and pulleys I'm sure I can come up with. ;)

If I do make this, I could use a set of brass pulleys, thin cotton string, some sort of chalk holders, and a counter weight of some kind.

There guys have a set of leather chalk holders that might work. The open one shown in the top right might be best but I can't see how the loop is set.

If anyone finds a cheaper, better one let me know.

What size weight should I use? I'd like to avoid lead.

Blackflagsailor, you're definitely going to need to post a picture of your room when you finish finding all this stuff you've been asking about.

The problem with most chalk holders (like the magnetic ones that clip to your belt or pocket) is they inhibit proper application of the chalk to the cue tip.

Chalk should be brushed on (side-to-side movement of the chalk face across the tip)... not screwed on.

Chalk with a deep circular pocket hole has not been used properly.

Whenever the day comes that the room is finished enough to do so, I certainly will! It's going to be Irish pub themed. I'll do a lot of custom sign work and some stained glass by myself. I have a plan do to the table lamp but haven't dawn the cartoon pattern for the glass yet. I'm still playing with ideas on that one. I will put in a small (very small) bar with an over head cabinet and do some stained glass on that and the back wall behind the bar. well...if there is room for a bar. But the room isn't going to be just a 'man cave', it'll have my dart board and all the classic games I've collected. I have a gallery showing a few. So it'll be a good hangout room for the family and visitors on game night.

If I had enough money, I'd get a nice little place and make it a pub style game hall with darts, a few billiard tables and one 12ft Snooker table and a full sized Russian table. Make it a great place to play a few of these games that you don't see to often in the US. I really enjoy Snooker but there isn't a place to play that I've found in Seattle. For my, I love just about any classic game. I think all games are fun but I enjoy the ones that don't take batteries or plug into the wall more.

Interesting. I didn't know this but come to think of it, BCA's book does suggest side-to-side as you said if I remember.
