I played a guy that liked about six pieces at the table. He kept moving them like F-ing poker chips before he would shoot. That was the most annoyed a bad pool habit made me. He would grab 2-3 chalk move them, pick one up, chalk, put it down, pickup the 2-3 chalk again, move them, pick one up chalk, put down chalk... then shoot. I wanted to take the butt of the cue and snap him right between the eyes.

Anyways, I like keeping a piece on person or max 2 on table. If they are drilled to the bottom, I find a garbage.

I always have a piece in my pocket. Who cares what anybody else thinks, don't sweat the small stuff.

When I carry chalk in my pocket for any length of time, I wind up getting it on both me and my clothes. I think two good pieces is enough to have on the table. If there aren't any good ones available, I'll use my own, which has my initials on the bottom. The initials cancel out a lot of arguments about whose chalk it is.

I hate when anyone uses hand powder.....PERIOD. This happened to me in Vegas this year. I almost let it get to me.

Use a glove instead of powder. There is NO need for powder anymore with other technologies. As such it should be banned. The funny thing is they allowed powder (normally white) to be used at the nationals but you could only use Blue chalk at the tables. What is the sense in that????

TAP...TAP...In studies done by Jack Koelher, he found that powder can cause throw angle variations vs. a clean ball of a full degree.

Chalk marks BTW can cause a variation up to 4 degrees...so the lesson is clear. Ummmm....be sure to keep your balls clean.

I used to keep my peice of chalk in the small change pocket in my jeans. It's just the right size for a cube.
I went to the SBE a couple yrs ago and bought a Dead Stroke pocket chalker. I got it because I had never seen anyone using one like it and it was different. Wasn't made very good. It has been broken and fixed 3 times, and now I'm attached to it. I do like to turn the cube upside down in the holder when I am not shooting for awhile (between matches and at the end of the night) it keeps the inside of my case cleaner, my pants too.

I keep 2 new peices with me wherever my cues are set down. Their mine and if anybody needs chalk the pool hall usually provides some so its not like im hoarding chalk just to shark people. I just do it cause i like green and becasue im tired of people walking off with them cause ive always got new peices.

I've been using it for about half a year, and it is well built.

What's interesting and sets it apart from the vinyl variant is the leather box in which the chalk rests. When it's closed, there's a lid over the chalk keeping the dust inside. When the chalker is in use, the lid can be turned sideways and snapped in around the side, keeping it out of the way all the time.

The lid is very effective at keeping loose chalk inside the cube, the dust will adhere to the rough inside of the leather. You can rub it out from time to time.

I guess this sounds more complicated than it is. I have made two quick pictures of the chalker to illustrate what I mean

When I received the chalker, I felt a little awkward, because nobody else in my rooms uses such a device. However, once I got used to putting it into the back pocket of my trousers, it was a no-brainer. I know exactly where my chalk is at any given time, and don't even think about it. Whenever I need it, I just grab at my backside like when I retrieve my wallet, and grab the cube. Putting it back is also as easy as storing my wallet. This has become so automatic that I will often still find it there when it's time to pay for my beer

I actually have 2 of these. One is brown/tan and one is black. I had problems with the brown one starting to come unstitched so Doug sent me a replacement black one. Talk about customer service. Anyway these are great. Another option is a chalk pouch that Kelly Fisher uses.
