Chalk Talk...

Been about 3 months-ish since switching to TP7500, which has proven to be a reliable and very nice chalk. Completely agree with my original analysis that it is softer than Taom, so holds better to all cues, negating the need to use one chalk for playing, and one for breaking/jumping. As it is softer, I do make sure I clean the cueball every rack, but I wouldn't say it leaves any noticeable debris, or causes anymore or less kicks. Being softer, I am about one third of the way through it, as opposed to the other pieces I posted before that had about the same wear after a year. Given that it is softer, and I am using on both cues, I am happy with the durability (still don't know if you guys licking your chalk on the sly 🤣 )

I have always chalked away from myself, and have done for years. All my old pieces of Triangle from playing snooker use to look the same. But last night a few friends were ripping on me for the shape I create on my chalk 🤣 To be honest, given that two of them just dig holes in theirs, I don't think they have any right to... My other friend is the kind to make a perfect 'X' shape, and refuse to let anyone else use his chalk. Which is how I always start out, digging the corners, and shaping away from me. I don't want my hand or shirt getting chalk on it... but I always thought this is the cleanest, and most effective way to get the most out of a piece.

Just curious to see what some of you guys end up with, would love to see your cubes, cylinders, octagons... Seems a good way to kill time at work today

No offense but if i ever get to this point i'll probably jump off a bridge. I use the chalk at the 'hall. Its free and it works perfectly. Today's manic attachment to tips/chalk/gloves,etc is just nuts imo. My $.02, nothing more. If this minutia rocks your world go for it. I think i'd rather clean the kitchen. ;)

Chalk, Super Chalk had been beat to death as subject here, what is best Master, Silver Cup, Toam, or the other brands.

Some Pro using and says XYZ BRAND is great, then another say ZAZ BRAND is best, and are they really sold? Or just being paid spokesperson to use what is so great.

Wonder if some Pro would use Wal-Mart Chalk, if the Money to endorse was right. Like 100K a year?

Dr. Dave debunks, Bulls*** about Chalk 4 or 5 ways.

Been using Green Silver Cup as someone died off and wife brought his stuff to Pool Room for use to use. I took 2 Cube off New silver Cup the light Green Silver Cup, when I am playing well it is FOOKING Great Chalk. Mostly use Green Master it is old reliable. Master I think has won more tiles, and

Tournaments than anything else. Master must be good, Blue is most popular color.

Like I said if you interested in leaning all about Chalk, watch Dr. Dave’s Videos and be open minded. You might get the bottom line Chalk is Chalk, or dam,, near close to it.

Folks have lost their minds. In America, pool halls, the very bedrock foundation of our pool world, face imminent extinction and some folks concern is consumed by the most esoteric aspects of the application of chalk? Give me a mfing break. Have y'all never heard of Nero?

I'm just curious how people chalk, I just found it fun that two dudes who spoon big holes into chalk they pay money for, covering their ferrule in blue gunk, talk shit because of the way I chalk 🤣
I was particularly bored yesterday. I did mention that lol

I 100% agree buddy, and I have posted at length my thoughts about this before. Pool is a consumerist spunk bubble. I got like 5 pieces of this chalk for nothing, that's why I use it. Is nice chalk though compared to what I was using before. Wasn't really the point of my post, was more curious HOW people chalk, and what the resulting work of art looks like hahaha

Beats working...

Was just curious on the 'art of the cube' 🤣

looking at this post as well as your signature I have to believe that you are so wrapped up in the meaningless esoteric forest of pool that you have lost sight of the trees forever

rectangular table, 6 pockets, some round balls and have a good time. if you want to get really good you understand cue and object ball movement and a work towards a consistent stroke and forget about all the batshit crazy minutiae

All my signature says is that I know what I like, and I like what I know (that and I have too much time on my hands at a boring desk job half way around the world lol). Actually, I very much dislike the pointless nonsense involved in the heavily consumerist world that is pool. I have posted at length about this before several times. When I started playing, there was a lot of trying things out, borrowing things from friends and experienced players, and adapting my game from big tables to 9foot. Understanding what works. But actually, I am a believer that a good player could hit the ball with a broomstick if that was their chose weapon, and they had time to figure it out.

Was just incredibly bored at work, as I am most times I post here. I was just curious on how chalk ends up looking. Would be a cool art project. A bit like dogs looking like their owners. Could probably tell you a lot about a person.

Do like the way you worded your post though! poetry.

Don't forget shafts lmao ..... None of
this will make a person play any better except for time at the table

I agree. I mean, I like my V10, I have toys etc, but I can literally grab any cue in the place and shoot just as good as long as it's not got a shiny piece of pea gravel for the tip. It's fun to have toys, but when they start effecting your mental game, that's too much. Find the balance point of the cue, throw some chalk on it and play. 🤷‍♂️

V10 is a good clean chalk. Owning my own table I can tell a huge difference on cleanliness. I have a generic roomba and when everyone played with Masters at my place I would empty out a quarter of a cube of chalk every week. All my buddies use V10 now and it's mainly nothing but a little dust (I don't cover my table).

If you play for 40 hours a week with Masters on a table it ends up looking like you gave Papa Smurf a hand job. I know, you can be clean with it if you're diligent, but in reality you can't control what others do while playing.

Yeah, I use this chalk for two reasons, got a lot of it for zero coins, and I respect the hall I play at. I have two or three tables that I stick to there usually, and always feel sorry for the lads brush the blue shit off grey cloth every night.

My friend just spent a fortune on a variety of carbon dildos that don't make him any better. Though he swears he can see a difference... I can't.

Wasn't really a post about playing well... Kind of just wanted to see what other peoples chalk looked like. I might make a short photo series of some friends at the hall. Let's call it 'art'. I think it'll be kind of like the whole 'dog looks like their owner scenario' - maybe the point was lost in my rambling. I sure do a lot of that :)

Couple years ago there was a similar thread. I couldn’t find it using search, but just found my photo from Nov. 11th of 2022.

I recall the O.P. had a similar experience where someone gave him a rough time about how he grooves his cube.

My wear:

I have a cloth sack filled with used chalk I’ve gathered over the years and probably have over 50-60 pieces.
Really dunno why I still have this but it’s part of my pool junk. However, I am more fussy about the chalk I
play with and have a small inventory of chalk brands. Based on how long the TAOM and Pagulayan chalk
lasts which so far has been a really long time, and my remaining inventory of new chalk, I will never purchase
chalk again. A have a small stash of Masters pre-flag chalk and I learned my unused box of Brunswick Willie
Hoppe Chalk is very collectible. In any event, Dr. Dave proved all chalks perform alike if & when you chalk after
every shot. It’s all about friction. Nonetheless, I have to say I endorse TAOM chalk that doesn’t mark the cue ball
