Chalk temp...????????

no clue here. place i play actually has this amazing gadget called a 'THERMOSTAT'. MAY have heard of it, keeps the room temp. constant. ;) Seriously i've never seen room conditions so iffy that the chalk changes.
Put it this way, the pool hall I play at is trying to save money. Air is not on during the winter and summer the A/C isn't very low. Its a travesty to be honest because our hands get cold when we shoot. Oh yea, the cues get cold too. LOL

Nobody believes me but once I saw my own breath in the place.

I've never seen any issues even after leaving my case in the truck for a while in MN winters, then going into a warm/humid pool hall.
I'm more concerned with my cues. Not using wood anymore so it's more the ferrule and other parts that i want to warm up. Carbon is basically unaffected by the cold.

I wish the hall closest to me would turn the damn heat down. It's always cooking in the corner with their 2 good tables. I'd rather wear a 1/4 zip or long sleeves than be sweating.

Tell those fools to 'close the damn door!!'😂

Somebody told me CF can become brittle and possibly develop small cracks if exposed to cold temps. Some shrinkage may occur as well. Anybody else know if that holds water??

I'm sure if it's insanely cold and you're pounding on it, but they've been making hockey sticks and protective gear, skis, fat bikes, etc out of carbon for years that take far more abuse at low temps.

I admit idk much about it. I had heard that somewhere and hoped one of y'all w more knowledge would gimme the deets and set it straight. Thanks!!

Carbon fiber bike frames aren't that strong. The neck tends to snap and riders have stories about eating asphalt while doing their bombs down a road. Especially in the bike world, hot topic of debate is steel, aluminum and carbon fiber when it comes to bike frames.

As for pool cues, I like wooden shafts and I'm probably the last generation of wood users.

Carbon fiber works in my opinion and probably the best synthetic material out there to use for pool cues than a pvc pipe.

You're referring to road frames where minimal weight is one of the primary goals and they are not subject to frequent impact. Carbon mountain bikes are ridiculously strong and stiffer than metal frames.

I keep my Taom V10 chalk in my deep freezer along with my roasts, vegetables, batteries, carbon fiber playing shafts, car keys, toilet paper etc. Turns out you can put anything in there, it's all about the square footage.

literally its cubic footage.

and chalk needs to be at least 98.6 and we have found that few people attain that anymore.
and no room gets that hot so chalk is inefficient as a means of keeping you from mis cueing.

I have an electric blanket I wrap mine in. I take the blanket with me to leagues and plug it in with my chalk inside it When not not in use. It helps me add more spin To the ball and consistency.. I’ve done the work.. I know the science. I will not be questioned 😂

niiiiiiiiiiiice. that's what i'm talkin 'bout: REAL science. keep up the good work. ;)

HUH?? When was the last time a pro bike race had a wreck due to frame breaking??? rarely if ever does it happen. CF frames are strong as hell. Go to/watch any big pro road race, 99.9999999999% of the bikes are CF.

Another brilliant Discussion about noting important.

They get new bikes every race. Heck, they have a wall full of them.

Ask the guy that rides the same bike frame and you will get your answer.
