i see people looking for this blue diamond chalk, and preflag master chalk....what do u prefer and why over the others.....also what is your climate like? here in fl it is always humid so sometimes chalk gets wet like i think. or maybe im weird.

thanks

try searching back about 12-15 days or so, there was a thread on humidity affecting chalk, and it sort of turned into a what's-your-favorite-chalk thread. I imagine there are a few of these on the site.

If I remember right, an actual official from Tweeten Fibre Co. (the makers of Master chalk) swear that there is absolutely no difference between pre-flag and post-flag Master chalk, it's an urban legend.

It was also suggested to keep the stuff in tupperware if humidity is an issue and to not mix different flavors of chalk. Also try throwing in a few of those little silica packets that come in beef jerky and whatnot. They keep things more dry.

My personal choice is blue master chalk. You may want to try and place a piece of chalk in the microwave for a few seconds. This will help to get the moisture out:thumbup:

How about the put the chalk in the oven for a little while to get the moisture out? I have experience that master chalk absorbs the moisture from the garage and when it gets hot and dries out, it feels to me that it kind of goes on better. Don't know how solid or true it is, maybe it is just a mental thing. I personally believe that the cue tip has more to do with how the chalk applies than the chalk itself. than again, it is also a theory with no facts to back it. Good luck finding your perfect chalk man.

Happy shooting! :)

u guys have some crazy ideas....but as soon as u take it out it is 100% humidity again. the tip takes damp chalk like blue paint and u can tell when the chalk is dry because u can see the little particles in the air. just didnt know if anyone knew of something better for damp conditions

I like Triangle best. I also have a ton of Master (blue). Now, last week I said I didn't care much for NTC. Then I found an old (like 10 years old) box of blue chalk I bought at Saffron Billiards in Michigan (house brand) that was made by NTC. The stuff is slightly more grainy than either Triangle or Master, but adheres very well to the cue. So, I guess I'm retracting that opinion about NTC.

I use Masters tan. I heard it's the best for the humidity here in Florida and it doesn't get the shaft as dirty as the blue.

All in your head???

I have a very good friend of mine who swears by Master black. He claims that the breakup is diffrent and from what i have seen, it is. If you rub your finger in it the black comes out a little finer than the blue. I personally use blue or green whichever is available. As for silver cup and ntc.....I cant throw them far enough lol. JMHO on that sorry for the rant.
As far as humidity goes.... It does make some diffrence I think. But I have yet to find a good way to counteract it.

I bought a bunch of pre-flag Masters Green back in 1995 & have been using that since. I'm really happy with it.

Only have about 10 pieces left now though. :frown:

I Live in Wisconsin, home of static electricity. The reason being, we have zero humidity. So my suggestion is based purely on things I've heard as well as things that seem a bit logical to me, sorry if they aren't.

keep the chalk in a little plastic bag? Wrap it in paper towel? Use a blow dryer to dry it out? Silica?
