challenge: high run using total chaos methodology

with the run 100 threads lately, I thought it'd be entertaining if we could cajole some people into posting home videos of themselves running as many balls as they can using the "total chaos methodology"...e.g. trying to break the stack open at 100mph every chance you get. You can play semi-intelligent patterns, but the dumber and more entertaining your patterns are, the better. Using inside english, etc. on the breakshot will be heavily frowned upon.

I'll paypal a $25-50 reward to the person who produces the most entertaining video with a respectable run. Anyone else want to chip in?

I've watched a tournament match with such play. It was incredible ! All clusters, including the small ones with only 2-5 balls were broken apart with 100 mph shots. Ridiculously difficult angled combos and about 70% of shots were shot like at least 80mph. The most amazing thing was that the shooter was probably one of the most talented Finnish players ever called Rafael Blomstedt. About 4-5 years ago he played this kind of match in a Finnish ranking event final. After breaking, his opponent missed and Rafael proceeded to run the match out with 125-out ! Still stands as a Finnish record made in Finnish straight pool tournament.

Another curiousity on this Blomstedt fellow. He has been very busy for a few years already with his job and family and returned to our club a few months ago to shoot a few racks. I guess he had taken some 4-6 months off without touching a cue. He set up the 15-ball rack, banked the corner ball into the kitchen corner pocket and ran 120-something straight away without any warmup ! I've seen him play many times and his definitely one of the best natural shotmakers I've ever seen.

Next weekend I'm going to grab the digicam from work and head to the club for some crazy wild 14.1 action !! I'll let you know how it went and if any crazy footage is to be published...

rofl that's awesome! I wish you had it on video tho :( I love to watch brute-force pool playing. I'm going to give it a go and have my shooting partner try it out as well. I wonder if I can even run 30 balls.

Anyone else interested? It's not like you have to show anything and blow your action..

Yeah. You can always wear a ski mask or a hood or something (not KKK style though, please) if you don't want to blow your cover and reveal your face. Videoediting a facial blur Cops-style could be too much of a trouble IMHO :p

a hat would probably do it too :D

way to step up Hal! Any other takers?

by the way, does anyone have a place to host the videos?

thanks

My video is already done. I ran one ball. I then give my best Fast Larry impression. I even used a cheezy visor.

Lol ! I think FL would run one ball and let his dog run the rest... without touching the rails and then FL would proceed to finish the run with an 11-rail position play and 127 replies to internet forums about his (and his dog's) run :D

I'd rather see videos of DCP going ballistic and whalin' a Randy Johnson fastball through his dry wall...or trying to break the world record in javelin by heaving a Cue-Tec through the window (closed of course) and spearing some hapless soul in the ass as they're walking the dog. :D

Besides, mayhem isn't for me. I'm all about finesse and having soft hands and touch. I never achieved my true calling in life which was to be a gynocologist.

So you don't 'grip it, and rip it?'

This site is pretty good and it is free. Just upload the video and you get a list of your hosted videos. Let me know if you have any problems.

This site is also pretty good:

this is such a grey area, because everyone except the really stupid has a methodology. really,,,the only ones who wouldn't would be beginners. any good player instinctively has a plan. no way around it. that is just part of being a good player.

now,,,if you were to ask a seasoned player, the only good strategy is one that makes sense TO HIM. if you ever asked ervolino what he thought about someone else's 14.1 play, you'd know what i mean :):):)

If you want to see it, PM an email address. It's pretty funny.

I have your vid. Can I share a link here ? I can share it for a while (for a week or so...)

And yes, it's funny ! I've watched it once and I think you ran -1 there, because you scratched on your last shot ! :D

Just for the record, I'm not really as good of a player as it appears on the video. I was playing over my head. Yes, you can share it.
